Show S. J. i4ueys Celebrate Golden Wedding Mr, and Mrs. SamualJames Alvey of Escalante will be honored on their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Wednesday, March 12th, at an open house at their residence from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a program at 0:00 p.m., followed by a dance in the High School gymnasium; everyone is in vited to attend and the couple requests no gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Alvey were married March 12, 1908 in Boulder and the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Mr. Alvey was born July 24, 1883 in Escalante, a son of Samual Alvey and Lucinda Merrills. Mrs. Alvey was bom April 25, 1890 in Thurber, later called Bicknell, " in Wayne County, a daughter of John Franklin Haws and Minnie Smith. They had ten children, six of whom are living: Ariel, Smith, Arnold, and Minnie Davis, of Escalante, Ray L. of Roy, and Wanda Hansen of KcnnewicK, Washington. They have eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. |
