Show Area Obituaries Donna LaRae Oleson Pollock TROPIC Donna LaRae Oleson Pollock, 58, passed away Sept. 2, 2002 at her home in Tropic with her family surrounding sur-rounding her. She was born June 26, 1944 in Greybull, Wyo. to John Robert and Madeline Edith Peterson Oleson. She married Samuel Lyle Pollock on Feb. 10, 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint. She has served faithfully in various capacities including a participant in presidencies, presi-dencies, teaching, and other auxiliary opportunities. To this date, four of her sons have served LDS missions and five of her children have married in the temple. Most recently, she and her husband were called on a part time service mission. In addition, for the past one year, she has been a civic volunteer. volun-teer. Her true love and dedication dedica-tion have been to her family. She is a perfect example of motherhood. mother-hood. She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002 at 1 p.m. in the Tropic LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Tropic on Thursday morning from 1 1 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Tropic Cemetery. Funeral directors: Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. Ardis Johnson Evans HATCH Ardis Johnson Evans, 73, of Hatch, passed away peacefully, Sept. 1, 2002 in Panguitch. She was born Mar. 14, 1929, in Cannonville, to Irving Ammon and Daisie Lavetta Johnson. Ardis married Robert Burns Evans, May 18, 1946. The marriage mar-riage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple, Apr. 30, 1960. Ardis was a devoted wife and mother. She especially loved her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many positions including Relief Society President, Mutual President and Primary President. But her love was the music. Ardis served as Hatch Ward Music Director for many years. She loved church hymns and was especially fond of primary pri-mary songs. Ardis was talented in many ways. Her hands were always busy with tatting, beadwork, knitting and crocheting. Ardis was famous for her baby booties where they were sold in handicraft handi-craft stores around the state. Ardis was very proud of her ancestors and pioneer heritage. She was a member of the Hatch Camp D.U.P. where she served in many leadership positions including president. Ardis is survived by her loving lov-ing and devoted husband, Bob, of 56 years; children: Michael J: (Jane) Evans, Lakeside, Ariz.; , j : 1 I . K : 7 - . Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 in the Hatch LDS Ward. Burial was in the Hatch Cemetery. Funeral directors: Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. Jerry G. Worthen Jerry G. Worthen, 58, passed . away Aug. 27, 2002 in Tucson, Ariz. Jerry had a long struggle with esophageal cancer. He resided in Pima, Ariz. He was born Mar. 13, 1944 to S. LaMar and Clara Giles Worthen in Panguitch. He graduated grad-uated from Panguitch High School. He enjoyed all kinds of sports and was active in the FFA. Jerry married Mada Barnson and they later divorced. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Latter-Day Saints. He loved the outdoors, out-doors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved having his dog "Tonto" with him. Jerry lived with his parents in Las Vegas, Nev., in their later years and showed compassionate compassion-ate and loving, tender care toward them, which was later shown to him by his brother Scott. He is survived by his five children: Jerry LaMar, Holly, Paul, Cary and Janis; a brother, Scott (Belva) Worthen, Pima, Ariz.; sisters: Maurine (Marvin) r 1 i t - i I - I Jerry G. Worthen Skougard, Las Vegas, Nev.; Karen (Wm. J) Nay, Panguitch; and Etta (Steve) Stevens, Bluffdale. He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece, LaRay Nay and a nephew, Lerry W. Nay. At his request, Jerry was cremated cre-mated in Tucson. A memorial service will be held at a later date and interment will take place in the Panguitch City Cemetery. Owen Brent Orton PANGUITCH - Funeral services were held Aug. 31 for Owen Brent Orton, 61, of Panguitch, who died Aug. 28, 2002, after a valiant struggle with cancer at home, a home he spent a lifetime acquiring and was so very proud of. Brent was bom Mar. 15, 1941 in Panguitch to Lawrence and Hazel Woodard Orton. He married mar-ried JoAnn Howard, Oct. 20, 1965 in Las Vegas, Nev. and she preceded him in death Dec. 1, 2001. Dad loved Panguitch and had a desire to never leave The city limits. He spent his entire life here raising his family, making a living and enjoying the good people. Brent enjoyed his work and took great pride in being dependable and punctual. He especially enjoyed and looked forward to visiting with his many friends each morning at the Post Office. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly; they were the highlight of his life. He is survived by his son, Jason (Annette) Orton of Panguitch; and daughter, Nida (David) Blair of Littleton, Colo.; grandchildren: Tawnya Veater, Tasha Hasse, Kesley MacCallum, and Jantzen and Kapri Orton; sister and brothers: Donna Mae Johnson, Gary and Bob Orton; and sister-in-law Alta Orton, all Panguitch. He is preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn; daughter, Susan Hasse, son, Lawrence Orton; parents; grandparents and a brother, Don Orton. Officiating at the services held at the Panguitch 2nd LDS . Ward Chapel was Bishop Michael Tebbs. The family prayer was offered by Denny Orton, a nephew. Prelude and postlude music was performed by Faun Guillette. Daughter-in-law Annette Orton offered the invo- Wina Liston Dotson Spencer ESCALANTE - Funeral services for Wina Liston Dotson Spencer who died Aug. 24, 2002 were held Aug. 31, 2002 at the Escalante LDS Stake Center. Officiating was Bishop Alan Torgersen. Prelude music was performed by Areola Gates. Victor Dotson offered the invocation invo-cation followed by the eulogy by Lois Sprake. Rose Marie Bailey gave a poem "Footprints", followed by a tribute by Don Lee Dotson and Dr. Rodney Dotson. Mavis Munson sang "Amazing Grace" accompanied by Areola Gates. Bishop Brent Orton cation followed by a musical selection by Barbara Orton, a sister-in-law, who was accompanied accom-panied by Faun Guillette. Tributes were offered by Barbara Leach, a niece, and Nida Blair, a daughter. Grandson Jantzen Orton performed per-formed "1 Am a Child of God", accompanied by Tonie Orton, a cousin. Jason Orton spoke about his father and Bishop Tebbs followed fol-lowed with closing remarks. The cousins sang "Daddy's Hands" and Harold Orton, a nephew, gave the benediction. Pallbearers were Jason Orton, Jantzen Orton, Gary Orton, Bob Orton, Wally Orton, Denny Orton, and Kenny Orton. Honorary pallbearers were Dwaine Orton, David Orton, Harold Orton, Mark Orton, Dale Orton, Tommy Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Carl Johnson, David Blair, Kevin Hasse, Glenn Leach, Donny Leach, Gary Leach, and Sandy Veater. Flower girls were Kesley MacCallum and Kapri Orton. Burial was in the Panguitch Cemetery where son Jason Orton dedicated his father's grave. Funeral directors: Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. Torgersen offered closing remarks followed by the benediction bene-diction by Scott Dotson. Postlude music was provided by Lynn Griffin and Brent Griffin who sang "A Long, Long Trail Awinding". Pallbearers were Victor Dotson, Dr. Rodney Dotson, Don Lee Dotson, Scott Dotson, Sean Dotson, and Jerrett Campbell. Burial was in the Escalante Cemetery where Dr. Rodney Dotson dedicated the grave. Funerals services were under the direction of Neal S. Magleby & Sons, Richfield. |
