She was special guest at the organization's birthday. Tropic Woman Honored On 91st Birthday Anniversary TROPIC - Ethel Hatch was honored by the Tropic Relief Society on her birthday, March 19, .at their annual Relief Society birthday party in the Tropic LDS Cultural Hall. Mrs. Hatch was born April 19, 1884 in Panguitch to Enoch Reynolds and Mary Elizabeth Shakespear Reynolds. She was married to John Hatch in the Manti LDS Temple. They spent their married life in Tropic. He died in 1965. When she was five years old, she swept the floor In the old school that was held on the top floor of the Houston store in Panguitch, and earned 5-cents a day. She saved her money and purchased her first doll. When she was nine years old she worked as a type setter for the Garfield County News. Later she helped with the horse races that were held in Panguitch. During the past 10 years, she has made over 100 rugs that she has given to her family and friends. She has a posterity of 48 grandchildren. 97 great- grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Of the 13 children that were born to her, seven are still living. They are Mrs. LaFaun Pollock and Mrs. Ferriland Ruesch of Tropic; Mrs. RaVae Pollock, Bryce Canyon; Mrs. Beverly Wright, Mrs. Gwen Richins, and Dar Hatch of Grantsville; and Vernon Hatch of Richfield. |
