A couple of bright spots in an otherwise dismal evening was Josh Bateman's 14 points and Brady Barney's 8. The following day the Cats tangled with Layton Christian and despite what Coach Barney termed "a very good effort against an extremely athletic team," the Cats wound up on the short end of a 53 to 49 score. Two Bobcats were in double figures as Cameron Leach canned 15 and ever steady Brady Barney sank 12. The Bobcats return to the Sevier Center Tuesday December 12th to meet Waterford and then open the Region 15 season at home, hosting Bryce Valley, Thursday December 14th LADY BOBCATS AT MESQUITE CLASSIC The Panguitch Girls Basketball team opened the Region 15 season at home with the Bryce Valley Lady Mustangs. Bryce Valley jumped out to a first quarter lead and although the Cats made a couple of runs to try and claw their way back into the game they could never get closer than 3 points as the Lady Mustangs chalked up the victory. This weekend saw the Lady Cats playing three games in the Mesquite Classic. In the opener Panguitch blew by Lake Mead High School, 29 to 19. Hailey Orton led the offense with 15 points followed by Krystal Taylor with 8. In game 2 the Lady Cats ran into a very talented Hurricane squad and dropped a 45 to 35 decision. Once again Hailey Orton and Krystal Taylor led the scoring with 13 and 10 points respectively. In the finale Panguitch got into a "barn burner" with Moapa Valley and in a match up where neither team led by more than 6 points, the Bobcats lost a heart breaker 34 to 33 in overtime. Krystal Taylor's 14 points led the scoring followed by Kelsie Barton with 8. The schedule doesn't get any easier this week as the Cats travel to Enterprise Tuesday, Escalante Wednesday, and then home to host Piute Friday.
