Kb will speak at the Panguitch Stake Center on Sunday, April 8* at 11:00 a.m. Mark is the son of Evan and Ruth Boshell and the grandson of Emoret Boshell of Cedar City, and Spencer and Nellene Hancey of Logan. Cameron Henrie of Panguitch has returned from serving as a missionary in the Ghana Accra Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will speak in the Panguitch Fourth Ward Sacrament meeting on April 8,2007 at 9:00 a.m., 550 South 100 West. Cameron is the son of Allen K. And Jeannie Henrie. Physical and Speech Therapy 435-676-1243 Mammography 435-676-1267 Diabetic Counseling 435-676-8811 Garfield Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Center 435-676-1265 0 One hundred and sixty-nine students representing fifteen high schools and five school districts competed for awards and honors in the Twenty-Ninth Annual Southwest Utah Sterling Scholar competition on the campus of Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, on April 3,2007. The Awards Program began at 7:00 p.m. Prior to the Awards Program a banquet was held to honor the Southwest Utah Sterling Scholar Finalists and their families. Students selected as finalists involved were from the following high schools: Beaver, Bryce Valley, Canyon View, Cedar, Dixie, Enterprise, Escalante, Hurricane, Kanab, Panguitch, Parowan, Pine View, Snow Canyon, Tuacahn,-.and Valley. The fifteen categories of the competition include: Agriculture Science, Business and Marketing, Computer Technology, Dance, English, Family & Consumer Sciences, Foreign Language, General Scholarship, Mathematics, Music, Science, Social Science, Speech/Drama, Trade and Technical Education, and Visual Arts. Each of the 174 finalists were judged on personal achievements and awards compiled in their portfolios as well as interviews with the judges. The finalists were also judged on scholarship, leadership, and citizenship. The three judges in each category came from local communities, Dixie College, and Southern Utal University. A winner and two runners-up.in each of the fifteen categories were announcec at the evening program, and each will be given a Sterling Scholar pin or charrr along with ca^h prize. Finalists from each high school received an embossec Sterling Scholar Certificate. Colleges and Universities in Utah are offering various scholarships to both winners and runners-up. |
