Pepper was selected for her hard work, dedication, and leadership abilities. Pepper played for the Bobcats through the 1996-1099 seasons. During this period she played for 2 State Titles, winning 1 in her senior year. 1999. She averaged 12 points per game in her senior season, and was named a first team all state player. Pepper was on the Academic All Slate team and was a great captain and leader of the Lady Bobcats. She will long be remembered lor her outstanding three point shooting ability, her constant floor movement and leadership, and her great love of the game. Pepper was honored with this plaque during the Boy's homecoming game against Wayne County in front of the many fans who had witnessed her great contributions to Panguitch Girl's Basketball. He was released from the Care Center in Riehfield and is happy to be home. Stan and Nellie Mediam picked her up and took her over to Sail Gulch as Stan has been a friend of Mack's for many years. They spent a nice lime visiting and were happy to see him. Mira Loy Olt called very excited lo report that her grandson, Steven Barney, had been inducted into the 2006-2207 National Honor Roll for Outstanding Academic Achievement o l ' a High School Student. She says the she and husband. Bob are very proud of Steven. He is the son ol" David Barney who lives in Bakersfield California with his family. Steven is also a member of the Young Marines which is a great organization for the youth. Some of the things thai Steven was honored lor were his volunteer efforts, community service, involvment in academics and sports, and main 1 other areas. The Oil family received a letter from Lynn Romero, chairman of the Nominating Committee detailing the award to them. They are so happy for Steven and his family. Dianna Mathews reports that her son, Trevor, is doing well in school in Montana. He decided to spend some time up their with his aunt and see some of the world. We miss you Trevor. We had a report that Lamar LeTevre had suffered a heart attack and we want him to know he is in our prayers and thoughts and we wish him a veiy speedy recovery. The Bryce Valley Drill Team went to State at UVSC in Orem and had a good time. Leaders Megan Brinkerhoff" and Jessica Stewart went up with them. Principal karl Slack was also in attendance Ui watch our girls do iheir best. I hanks It) everyone who supported the girls. If there is one thing that you can be sure of in high school basketball is"thai there is nothing that you can be sure of in high school basketball!!!" Panguitch has lost lo both Piuie and Escalante on the Bobcat's home floor, so what happens? They turn around and defeat the same two teams on their home turf. Go Figure!!! In Friday's 75 to 68 win at Escalante, it was once more another battle of lead changes and momentum seesawing back and forth. At the half. Panguitch had an eleven point lead, but then in the 3rd quarter the Moquis nailed a 53 to 51 lead, but in the final stanza, led by point guard Tyler Pollock's two critical buckets, the Cats went on a 7 to 0 run to ice the \ietory The Bobcats once again had four players in double figures, as Tyler Pollock had a career night with 17. Josh Bateman led all with 22. Cameron Leach had 17 and Brady Barney 16. The Moqui's Tim 1 lughes had a great night with 19 and Ivy Round)' 1 7 and McLemore with 15. As close as the top three teams are this season. Coach Barney urges all their fans to attend the Region Tournament in Cedar City and cheer on vour favorite team. It should be a weekend of Great Basketball!!!!! WITH The Panguitch Lady Bobcats closed out the regular season on an encouraging note with twin victories over Millbrd and Wayne on those team's home lloors. Wednesday's 57 to 29 walk-over at Millbrd was one of the Cats better offensive outings. Hailey Orton led all with 24 points and 3 from the 3 point arc. Krystal Taylor had 9 and Kelsie Barton pumped in <S. The Cats defense shone also, as they held the Tigers lo a mere 6 points in the first half. At Wayne, Friday, the Bobcats once again had a greal first half, holding the Badgers lo ten points while scoring 20. Bui in the second half, with Hailey Orion and Krystal Taylor on the bench suffering with foul woes. Coach Barney had lo ask several other girls to step up and lake over. Lacy Rosser did , with a 7 point output and Freshman Chelsie Barney played well as the point guard, in Kryslal's stead. Krystal Taylor led the Bobcats with 12 points, in the 35 to 24 victory. The Lady Cats enter the Region Tourney at Escalanle. Thursday the 7th as the r-4 seed MK\ will play the "5 seed. Wayne. Despite their youth and lack o\' floor experience, the Lad) Bobcats turned in a prelly respectable season, going 6 and 6 in Region, and 9 and Id overall |
