Show Page 9 THE GARFIELD COUNTY INSIDER BRYCE VALLEY AREA NEWS ...by Vicki D. Syrett 679-8687 or vickidiane36@hotmail.com Wallace Ott celebrated his 95th birthday in St. George on Saturday, September 30th with his family. Mary, his wife of 76 years, was by his side and together they blew out the 95 candles on his cake. Sixty three members of the family were there to help celebrate this joyous occasion and eight of his nine children were there: Marilyn Murdock of St. George, Irene Emett of Tropic, Wally Ott of Flagstaff Arizona, Lloyd Ott from Ogden, Sandra Houston who lives in Blythe California, Sherrill Ott ofTropic, Kim Ott from St. George and from Toquerville came Kathy Davis. Brent Ott of Tacoma Washington was unable to be there so he sent his love and said he will see everyone at Thanksgiving time. The crowd was entertained by Scott Emett, along with Lindsey and Sara Ott. What great music it was, with the highlight being when Scott sang a song he composed about his Grandpa Ott's life. 95 years of life condensed into a song was a very difficult task and it was just wonderful and brought many memories and tears. Wallace and Mary have 9 children, 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 5 great, great-grandchildren. A marvelous legacy for a very special man on his 95th birthday. Congratulations to Wallace from all of us. You are truly an example to everyone. Charlie and Eva Dean Francisco would like to thank all who helped them during the time of Charlie's surgery and recovery. They hauled hay, did chores, did the watering, and helped in any way they could. Among all who helped was William N. Mortensen (grandson), Shilo Richards, Neal Jeppson, Lester Clarke, Clint Mecham, Paisley Paisley, and David Roberts. To any and all others who helped during this time thanks for yourfriendship.Charlie is doing well and is now able to complete his own work but wants everyone to know how grateful he is for the help. Wally and Lynette Orton went to Kanab to support a son and a grandson in football. They even went in the rainy weather and were happy to do it. Dixie Shakespear and Iren_Brockdorff drove up to Boulder last Thursday to see the fall colors on the trees. Despite the pouring rain and the fog up on the mountain, they enjoyed the brilliant colors along the route. Dixie related many interesting stories about growing up in Boulder and pointed out numerous landmarks along the way, including the remains of a remarkable road she had traveled as a youngster in a horse drawn buggy. They stopped to take photos at several places and had lunch at the Burr Trail Restaurant. The ladies plan to visit the area again, hopefully when it is a lot drier and they can get out to do some exploring on foot. Irene says, thanks Dixie - you are awesome company!" OCTOBER 12,2006 Time to start thinking about how to heat your home for the coming Winter! If you are using fuels that are oil or gas based to heat your home this winter, you may want to save by using electricity from Garkane Energy. Our residential rate has not increased since 1992. After 1,000 kwh the price drops to 4.150 per kwh.
