Take this quiz to see if any of the statements below apply to you: • You have diabetes • You have high blood pressure hear disease • You have a family history of chronic kidney disease If you checked any one of the above factors, you could be at risk for kidney failure or kidney disease and should attend the FREE Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) screening conducted by the National Kidney Foundation of Utah. The screening will be Wednesday, May 26th from 2:00 — 6:00 p.m. at the LDS Church, 550 South 100 West, Panguitch. Call 800-869-5277 to make an appointment. More than 26 million Americans — or 1 in 8 adults — have some stage of chronic kidney disease and most don't know it. This early detection screening will allow participants to be more aware, make healthy changes and, if necessary, medical intervention, to postpone or prevent the seriousness of kidney disease. It's interesting to discover that when Clint Eastwood (a distinct NON singer) discovered that Lee Marvin would be doing his own singing...Clint promptly told the director he wanted singing lessons and ultimately sung HIS songs, too! Finally, please indulge me with a couple of very personal memories from my years as the promotional manager of a San Diego summer stock theatre. It was a theater-in-the-round (a circle stage with seating all around and aisles coming down from an 'outer' ring to the stage and an orchestra pit on one side.) Most of the aisles were pretty much standard size and could handle individuals (actors...scenery movers, etc) moving up and down between the scenes, and, in the dark! But there needs to be at least one aisle that is Super-Sized to handle really large scenery items. There is usually a pair of large doors allowing for items to be stored outside when not being used. He placed himself about two thirds of the way down and signaled the orchestra to que him in...Out came this unbelivably FULL (loud?) voice! Everyone stopped immediately with John laughing the hardest! He boomed, "Guess I'll need to back up a bit?" 7 6 L 1 1 8 The late STEVE MCQUEEN was well know for his many (self-performed) movie stunts. However, when Bullitt was filmed the director told him to 'lean your head toward the window when you drive.' This to show that it was actually him doing the wild 'n' crazy driving! There were actually TWO mustangs and TWO Chargers used for the filming...one 'set' were specially reinforced for the worst of the driving! The first day of rehersal, the director and Raitt were discussing where he would make his entrance (while singing, Oh! What a Beautiful Mornin'). It was decided that the Wide Aisle would give John plenty of space. 9 1 3 Angelina Jolie has become a really big personality...yet few know that JOLIE is actually her middle name (in French it means: Pretty!) In any event, we did a wonderful production of Oklahoma! and were fortunate enough to snag John Raitt (who originated the role on Broadway) for our Curly! (his daughter, Bonnie, became a very popular singer). 0 1 The decade of the Sixties provided the foundation for most of these tid-bits...For example I had the opportunity to meet & work with Errol Flynn's last wife. I asked her to tell me something about Errol that never got into the news...She thought for a moment and then said, "In the late forties there was a charity golf tournament down in Mexico. Many show biz stars attended ( it benefited orphans). Errol couldn't go, but he and a friend bought three Gross Boxes (144 each!!) of ping pong balls...charted a plane, flew down and then scattered the 432 balls over the golf course! Then flew back home...A few friends figured out who the culprits were!" ■IIIIII(■ He repositioned himself and tried again. Still way too much 'voice.' The final solution? They opened the two large doors and he began all the shows... standing OUTSIDE and then continuing to sing as he strolled down the aisle and onto the stage. Needless to say, he got a standing ovation every performance. 1 NOTICE AND OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT Row Lakes Vegetation Treatment Project USDA Forest Service — Fishlake National Forest, Fremont River Ranger District A Proposed Action and practices (BMPs) where ap- bility. Now, here's the Rest of The Story: The director decided he wanted a REAL Surrey With The Fringe on Top along with a REAL horse! Both were pretty easy to acquire, tho the surry was a 5/8's size and the horse of very small individual. All went very well for the first handful of performances with John and his co-star riding down the wide aisle while the audiance would go wild with applause. The surry would stop right above the orchestra pit so John and the conductor could see each other and John would sing... Well...then came the 'fatefull' performance...all went well during the entrance...the surry went around the stage once and then stopped in the proper location...however, the mare decided she just hadn't... let's say, 'relived herself' enough BEFORE the show...She simply lifted her tail and proceeded to let go of a very large stream...directly into the pit (much going into the tubba, the rest splashing all around. Epilogue: everyone went absolutely wild and, of course, the show was stopped while the orchestra (members & pit) were cleaned up. John, meanwhile, suggested they begin the scene from-the-top and all went well with a huge ovation for that one performance! ! ! True Story...Honest! |
