Show MILLARD COUNTY PROGRESS, Local Guard RETURN FROM MICHIGAN Thrusday, Friday, Saturday outdoor and Bca Iverson have just returned from a months visit to Michigan. Thev were house guests of Rea's brother and sister Bill and Mary ot Adrian, Michigan. They were much surprised Bea's brother to find Harold and wife Marie from Granite City, III. and her brother Lyle from Red Hook. N.Y. also in Adrian as well as Beas only sister Agnes and husband James Greene from Detroit. They had a really wonderful Wc didnt do much sight seeing. For two weeks we just visited. Aner mu we went a few places such as: Lake Gardens Hidden was started in 1926 by Harry Fee. It was given to Michigan State University in 1945. At that time it was 226 acres but has now grown to 670 acres. Mr. Fee was an Adrian Other man. business families presented gifts such as the Center Building and the new Plant Conservatory. Frankcnmuth was founded in 1845 by a group of Bavarian Christians to spread the gospel tc the Indians. Ron went Pheasant hunting with his uncle and cousins David and Rex Allen. PVTs Jeffery C. Johnson, Mark S. Mundy, Kevin R. Warner, and Scott Dastrup have successfully completed Basic Combat and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Knox, Mark, Kentucky. Jeff, and Kevin graduated in gasoline and diesel engines and hydraulics mechanics. Scott graduated in supply fcnghdgament.Va and logistics management. All 4 were recipients of National Guard scholarships to post high school colleges of their choice. All four graduated in the upper 25 of their respective courses and Mark Mundy received the additional distinction of being the outstanding performer in physical training for his entire company. Jeff, Mark, Kevin, and Scott will function in this unit as crewmen on the SP 155MM howitzer. Congratulations to these four men for their outstanding work and dedication in their successful completion of active duty. All will be assets to this Battery and an aid in preserving our reputation as being one of the best Field Artillery Battalions in the United States. Twyla Lewis came from Las Vegas over the weekend and visited with her mother Fae Brundy and her husband Dean and family. Twyla came especially for her friend Annette Williams Wingets wedding and reception Nov. 6. She was an attendant to the bride. We also visited Green field Village and Henry Fords Museum. The Henry Ford Museum a 14 acre indoor museum contains exhibits depicting .100 years of Americana in decorative arranged art galleries, a colorful sheet of 22 early American shops and an 8 acre mechanical arts hall as well as a 60.000 volume research library. There seem to be no small homes in Michigan. Most homes we visited have ai least 10 or 12 rooms. Mrs. Fords has 00 rooms. The yards are large and well cared for at most homes. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beckstrand and their two sons Ronald and Mark Bountiful hunted from pheasants here on Satur- day and visited with his mother Eva Beckstrand and his brother Harold and his family.
