Show B6 The Emery County Review, Tuesday, December 9, 2008 Tributes Bernice Wilson Henrie PRICE - Bernice Wilson Henrie age 85, passed away December 4, 2008, at the home of her oldest son. She was born June 8, 1923 in Sunnyside, Utah to James and Kate Hatter Wilson. She married Ted Rose Henrie on January 21, 1942 in Wellington. Bernice enjoyed being in the outdoors especially camping, in her younger years and with her family. She also enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and doing ceramics and making bead hangers. Bernice is survived by her children Ted Ross (Shirley) Henrie of Price, UT, Boyd (Helen) Henrie of Wellington, UT, Kay Thayn of Wellington, UT, Kent (Amy) Henrie, Hotchkiss, CO, and Clay (Litsa) Henrie of Paonia, CO, daughter-in-law Carol Henrie of Price, UT, 15 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. Preceded in death by her husband; Ted Rose Henrie, son; Danny Ray Henrie, son-in-law; Darwin Thayn, and ten siblings. Funeral Services was December 8, 2008 at Fausett Mortuary (680 East 100 South-Price, Utah). Interment was in the Price City Cemetery. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Lloyd Vinton Johansen PRICE - Lloyd Vinton Johansen age 89, passed away Monday, December 1, 2008, in Ferron. Lloyd was born September 24, 1919, the fifth of nine children born to Charles Anton and Sophia Ann Timothy Johansen. He was raised in Cleveland, and the surrounding area, and at a young age he learned the value of hard work by herding sheep and working on the family farm. Lloyd married Mary Leora Childs on December 23, 1940 in Price. Lloyd worked in the coal mines for more than 40 years while continuing to farm on the side. His hobbies were working with horses, braiding bridals and tack, planting gardens and grapes, fishing, just being in the outdoors, and Dutch oven cooking. He was a family man who loved his family and spending time with them, he loved visiting with others and never met a stranger. He was very generous with giving to those in need especially from his garden. He will be remembered as a loving, hard working, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Mary; children: Lavell (Linda) Johansen of Grand View, Texas, Helen Lee (Tom) Longhurst of Florence, Mont., Enid Cecille Wood of Las Vegas, Gary (Kathy) Johansen of Pocatello, Idaho, and Charlie (Annette) Johansen of Benson, Ariz. Sister: Leah Neilan of St. George, brother: Roy Johansen of Elmo, sisterin-laws Velma Allred of Elmo, Ann Allred of Huntington, and Darlene Acerson of Riverton, 17 Grandchildren and 25 Great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Max, Merwin, Tom, Ruel, and Glendon, one sister Eunice Chatwin, son-in-law Mick Wood, sister-in-law Shirley Brown, brother-in-laws, Sheldon Childs, Kenneth Childs Funeral Services were, December 6, 2008, at the Price 4th Ward Chapel (545 East 400 North). Cleo Elaine Hitchcock Burgess “Together Again” PRICE - Cleo Elaine Hitchcock Burgess, age 78, passed away December 2, 2008 at Castle Country Care Center in Price. She was born September 4, 1930 in Moore (Rochester), Utah to Seth Hitchcock and Mary Alice Allen. She married James Ivo Burgess on June 3, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple. Cleo was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions. Her family and her children were her greatest joy. She is survived by her children: Kennith (Virginia) Burgess of West Valley City, UT, Paul (LeRee) Burgess of Blanding, UT, Bruce (Nona) Burgess of Price, UT, Diane (Don) Rock of Heyburn, ID, and Deborah (Jeff) Williams of St. George, UT; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters: Kenna Lee (Dick) Anderson of West Valley City, UT, and Ruth Jensen of Salt Lake City, UT. Proceeded in death by her husband; parents; four half sisters; two half brothers; two brothers; and two sisters. Funeral Services was December 5, 2008 at the Price LDS Stake Center (150 S. 500 E. – Price, UT). Interment was in the Cliffview Cemetery. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary. John Sanchez PRICE - John Earl Sanchez, age 46, passed away November 28, 2008. He was born August 2, 1962 in Moab, Utah to Johnny P. and Ellen S. Weatherington Sanchez. John enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and four wheeling. He would go out of his way to help others. Survived by his mother; daughter; and older brother and sister. He will be laid to rest at 7 Mile Plaza, Colo., with his father and younger sister. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price. Angelo Bera HELPER -Angelo Bera, age 75, passed away December 1, 2008 in Price. He was born October 2, 1933 in Castle Gate, Utah to Mike and Josephine Duenes Bera. Married Joy Christensen, January 27, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah Angelo was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and honorary life member of Price Elk’s Lodge # 1550. He was a dedicated member of the United Mine Workers of America Local # 1681, where he was the financial secretary for many years. Angelo enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his passion was an extensive collection of model cars that he gathered from all over the country. His first love, was an eighteen wheeler and his heart was that of a truck driver. He was everyone’s friend, and everyone knew where they stood with Angelo. He always found a way to get the last word in. Angelo was always loved, and won’t be forgotten. Survived by his wife, Joy Bera, Helper; children, Denise Bera, Price, Brenda (Jason) Chambers, Wellington, Tammy (Drew) Demler, Logan, Mike (Valarie) Bera, Price; brother and sister, Ruben Bera, Erline (Dean) Denison, both of Price; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service was December 4, 2008, at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment was in Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Adeline “Dean” Fowler HELPER - Our wonderful mom, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and good friend, Adeline M. “Dean” Losik Fowler, age 89, died December 6, 2008 in Price, with her son and daughter at her side. She was born March 27, 1919 in Breezy Hill, Crawford County, Kansas to Steve and Phyllis Maffi Losik. She was the oldest of four sisters and the rock of her family. Adeline married Leslie Price Fowler in Castle Dale, Utah on November 5, 1938; he died July 19, 1954. Member of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Helper. Mom was very proud to have been a coal miner’s wife and daughter. She loved baseball especially her beloved Chicago Cubs and her family was her life. Mom we love you with all our hearts and will miss you everyday. God bless and keep you Mom. Survived by her son, Gary L. (Peggy) Fowler, Grand Junction, CO; daughter, Sherry L. (Bruce) Christensen, Helper: sister, Viola Skriner, Spring Glen; 8 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Les; parents, sisters, Marie Chubbuck, Gloria Marshall; and special friend, Nick Rukavina. Androniki Pappas 1920-2008 PRICE- Our loving mother, yia yia, sister, aunt, and friend to all, Androniki Pappas, age 88 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 6, 2008. She was born May 17, 1920 in Aroni Crete, Greece to John and Anna Katsoulakis Makridakis. Married Louis Pappas on December 2, 1956 in Salt Lake City. Together they had two wonderful sons Tony and Johnny. After her husband passed away April 12, 1974, she raised her two sons and supported them in their baseball and education endeavors. She was very proud of her sons and her very special grandson Louis Nicholas. Our family was truly blessed with the gift of Androniki. She always had a smile on her face and in her heart and loved by all whose life she touched. You could always count on the best coffee and Greek cookies in town on her front porch. Her great example, passion for life, and family traditions are legacies that will always be treasured. She was an active member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church and loved her church dearly. Survived by her son, Johnny (Jill) Pappas, Wellington; grandson, Louis Nicholas (Lisa) Pappas, Athens, GA; sister, Demetra Thimakis, West Jordan; step daughters, Helen Segura, Price, Melo Pazell, Midvale; stepson, George Pappas, Price; and many loving grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by her husband; son, Tony; stepson, Ferron Pappas; parents; and brothers and sisters in Greece. He was married to Pattie Brasher for 49 years. A man of great faith, he was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Indeed, he was a miracle. He served in many church positions, including five bishoprics, stake and ward missionary, Scout Master, and teacher. He recently fulfilled a service mission. His favorite calling was Primary teacher. He received an Associates Degree from College of Eastern Utah, a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Masters Degree from Brigham Young University, and a Masters of Fine Arts from Utah State University. He began his teaching career in Covallis, Oregon, and then moved to Price, where he taught at the College of Eastern Utah for 39 years. He deeply loved life, his family, and the Savior. He is survived by his wife, Pattie; children, Todd (Angie) Young; Heather (Vince) Riddle; grandchildren, Adam, Tyler and Michael Young, and Katelyn Riddle; sisters, Jeniene (Gale) Hamelwright; Helen (Guy) Black. He was preceded in death by parents, brothers George and Don. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westwood Ward, 174 North 1280 West, Price, UT. There will be a viewing Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 East 100 South, Price, UT, and one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Price City Cemetery.
