Show MAJOR FISHING REGULATIONS RE-GULATIONS NOTED Utah's general angling season sea-son opens Saturday, June 4 and Department of Fish and Game listed some of the major angling rules along with the reminder that officers will be patrolling all waters to assist fishermen and to apprehend violators of the fishing regulations. All persons 12 years of age or older must possess and visibly display a proper license whenever when-ever fishing. No one may use another person's license. Angling is defined as fishing with a single line attached to a rod, pole, or troll board held in the hands of, or attended by the person angling, and having attached thereto any legal baits or lures. Fishing is permitted with any bait except game fish or parts thereof and live fish. The eggs of all species of fish are permitted as bait. Angling is permitted with any mechanical lure, except no lure shall have more than three gangs of hooks, and no line shall have attached more than two baited hooks or artificial artifi-cial flies. Multiple prongs attached to a single shaft is defined de-fined as one hook. Attended means an angler must be within 10 feet of the equipment being used at all times. Bag and possession limit for trout is 10 fish or seven pounds and one fish (except Bear Lake and Lake Powell), whichever is caught first. Resident children under 12 years of age may take only four fish or three pounds and one fish, whichever is caught first. Nonresident children under 12 must fish with a licensed angler and the fish they catch must be counted in the limit of the licensed angler. Trout and salmon must be kept with the heads and tails intact. There is no minimum size on any species of fish, except ex-cept on Strawberry River.
