properly represented and twelve young men were recommended as being worthy to receive ordination to the Melchi sedek priesthood president angus M cannon regretted to say that there were very many young and efficient brethren those who would be a great help and support to their bishops who were still steil to any office in the lesser priesthood notwithstanding the counsels and instructions given on this subject young men should be called and trained to work in the harness and not be left to roam the streets and hills idling their time away th the e reason that some of them are not active workers in the priesthood and able assistants in the cause of god is because of neglect in many instances on the part of those whose duty it is to look after this class alms the bishops have been asked time after time to bring these in and teach them what was required air ed at their hands we have neg neglected c ted 41 our dueks in some particulars an and d the lord will hold us amenable for it A resolution was passed by the high council some time since to the effect that the bishops of the stake use great diligence in training the youth of israel in the duties of the lesser priesthood all that can be ordained to the priesthood should be ordained and in recommending such to receive the priesthood evidence of their worthiness for this promotion should be fully considered gather the young in and teach them bow they can og obtain salvation and make themselves useful A question regarding the right of sisters presiding at the primary association was submitted president cannon answered by saying that the sisters certainly had bad the right to preside at these meetings on all and every occasion and that they should not be interfered with in this respect by any one of the brethren as long as they were doing good and teaching correct principles he had never heard anything from them but this he did not assume to preside re at these meetings when he tad had visited them and did not think that other elders bad he favored ward primary conferences bel being hew held as this question was ejae ao alfeed and remarked that the should be encouraged in every good work elder george goddard stated that a petition was being signed preparatory to being sent to the legislature asking them to suppress the sale of cigarettes tobacco and cigars to minors or those under 18 years of age the assembled priesthood 4 endorsed the move dr edward isaacson Isaa addressed the meeting and delivered some powerful remarks regarding the times of the gentiles being nearly fulfilled and the gold going forth of the gospel to his people the 0 jews re he bore a strong testimony to the gospel gospe pe enjoyed by the latter day saints and testified to the joy and peace that had bad come to him since lie he obeyed its truths elder samuel B R bennion president of uintah stake spoke for a short abort time regarding the country that he be lived in and the people over whom he had bad the honor to pred preside and stated that aa a rule those who could be called latter day saints saint were doing about as well as they could do for the establishment of righteousness apostle abraham H cannon dwelt with great force on the spirit of gathering remarking that the lord designed and even commanded his people pie to 14 gather together and not to sep irate or scatter abroad when the time came for the saints to go out or return to jackson county the lord through his chosen servant on earth would let us know some say that we must go into bondage in order to be released by aca a moses that is to arise and deliver us we have had our mosess and they have led us out of bondage and we have our moses today if we would but hearken unto his word and do what the lord requires of us we will not go into any other bondage if we even now were to observe toe the revel revelation stion given to president john taylor in 1882 we need have no fear if we were to repent of our sins and wrong doing all would be well with us ther world has no affiliation for us they do not befriend us but rather seek our overthrow and destruction in too many instances those professing to be latter day saints have given the weapon into the hands of our enemies here and they have and are scouring scourging us severely let us love and sustain each other fear god and keep our skirts unspotted from the blood of this generation elder elias morris said that the latter day saints did not seem to have a friend in the whole world inthey if they did those who were such were afraid to arise and say my a word in our behalf has any one gotten up at any time and taken our part when we have been in the midst of suf suffering tring privation and tribulation no they seem to be alfraid affeid to saya say a good word then let us do what we can to sustain aika encourage each other and leave the others severely alone president A M cannon delivered the closing remarks and urged upon all to live lives of purity and
