"Where else would I find a series that appeals, at the same time, to sophisticates, children, those fond of adventure and deviates?" he asked during an interview the other day. Deviates? we rope; led, surprised he would use such a describe his fellow actors. Well, Honor Blackman, our first heroine, wore leather a lot, hp declared. "And so did Diana Rigg who left the show last season. The episodes with Honor havent been shown outside of England, but not because they were too kinky. It had nothing to do with content. They were on tape and difficult to dub." He continued: "Im not J-tired of Steed, not at ail. The (W1 writIdeas and the people ers, directors and actors change, and that keeps the show fresh. Theres no sene of routine. There is a constant improvisation because both Steed and I change when we relate to different people. Basically, Steed is me. We're both men of today, trying to enjoy life, to approach it with a reasonable humor. Its difficult at times. "What actor has the same opportunity to play light comedy? Where else would I get constant practce every day? I approach every scene asking myself, Whats the opposite way to play this Patrick Macnee isn't tired We could do straight cops-W- e of ihe Avengers. coud do straight cops- but its more fun to stylize. word o Aeademy of Professional (Ch. 2, 9 Sports Awards p.m.), is an annual telecast of awards honoring athletes of the year, featuring presentation by many big name enter- tainment personalities.
