Show u SEPTEMBER 30, 1986 William Duerden dies Obituary William Richard Duerden, 30, of 2587 Oakhills Drive, Layton, died Friday, Sept. 19, 1986 at the Hospital. He was bom March 29, 1956 in Provo, a son of Jay Verle and Leone Winegar Duerden. He began his education in Salt Lake City. He attended schools in Great Falls, Mont., Kellogg, Idaho, and graduated from Natrona High School in Casper, Wyo., in McKay-De- Charles W. Bean I . Charles (Charley) William Bean, 76, of 863 Rosewood Lane, Layton, died Monday, Sept. 22, 1986 at the Humana Hospital Davis North of emphysema. He was born Nov. 8, 1909 in Salt Lake City, a son of Francis Armstrong and Nellie Wilkinson Bean. He married Blanche Lorraine Parrish April 27, 1941 in Ely, Nev. He had lived in Morgan, Evanston, Wyo.; Salt Lake City and Layton for 38 years. He graduated from high school in Evanston, Wyo., and received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Utah in electrical engineering. He was a member of the Clearfield Community Church. He had served with the U.S. Army in World War II, and was commander of a reserve unit at DDO. He retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel in 1969. He had worked at the Naval Supply Depot and Hill Air Force Base as an engineer. He was a member of the Golden Spike Gem and Mineral Society, the Layton City Planning Commit- tee; and the Reserve Officers Assoc. He was a professional basketball player for the Union Pacific Railroad. Surviving are his widow of Layton, one son, Dr. Charles Parrish Bean, Fruit Heights; and eight grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Raymond L. Bean, Roy; and one sister, Mrs. Carl (Mariam) Albrecht, Evanston, Wyo. Services were held Sept. 24 at the Lindquists Kaysville Mortuary . Interment was in the Salt Lake City Cemetery where military honors were accorded. e 1977. He was an Elder in the Layton LDS 21st Ward, Holmes Creek Stake. He was a sales associate and a director in the Coast-to-CoaCorp., in Kaysville. He was the Montana Easter Seal Child in 1965. He enjoyed music, fishing, traveling and reading. He enjoyed his sustained muscle building program. Surviving are his parents of Layton, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Wesley Winegar, Weiser, Ida.; three brothers. Jay Verle Duerden Jr., Provo; Robert st Douglas Duerden, and David Charles Duerden, both of Layton; Kyle Bateman of the Ibapah Branch officiated. Family prayer was by Pres. Kyle Bateman; prelude, Kathy Buckner; invocation, Randy Bateman; tribute, Dr. Charles P. Bean; re- four sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Parma) Routson, Hermiston, Ore.; Mrs. Kris (Maxine) Christensen,. Mrs. Scott (Diana) Johnson, and Mrs. Scott (Donna) Smith, all of Kays- ville. Services were held Sept. 23 at the Layton 21st Ward Chapel with Bishop Thomas Pratt officiating. Funeral directors, Lindquists Kaysville Mortuary. Family prayer was by Leonard Rouston; prelude and postlude, Janie Nebeker; invocation, Robert Layton; obituary, Bishop Tom Pratt, speaker, Lu Briggs; Red River Valley" by Wayne Winegar accompanied by Kay McCormick; speaker, Kris Christensen; "America the Beautiful by Mike Farmer and Shauna Yarbrough accompanied by Janie Nebeker; speaker, Bart Flint; remarks, Bishop Tom Pratt; The Battle Hymn of the Republic by the con- gregation; benediction, Gary Egbert. Dedication of the grave was by Jay Verle Duerden Jr. with inter- ment in the Kaysville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Duck- worth, Scott Johnson, Scott Smith, Ray Nesslage, Craig Griffith, Roger Reynard, Cam John and Ron Winegar. Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Wittenburg, Dick Stout and John Rottenberg. Silver Age Ctr. Alta Threlkel services held Alta Elvina Threlkel, 76, of 1450 S. 1500 E., Clearfield, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 1986 in a Clearfield care center of cancer. She was bom March 24, 1910 in Minden, Neb., a daughter of Jens Jordon and Liza Estergard Ebert. She married Marvin Angels Threlkel on Sept. 28, 1927. He died Oct. 2, 1960. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church. She retired from St. Benedict's Hospital from the housekeeping department. Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Robert Threlkel, Long Beach, Miss.; DorraJ L. Threlkel, Humansville, Mo.; Ronald D. Threlkel, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Floyd (Ardyce) Griffis, Fruit Heights; six grandchildren and nine Also surviving are three sisters, n. Emma Beck, Minden, Neb.; Martha Christensen, Kearney, Neb.; Leona Smith, Goodland, Kansas. Services were held Sept. 20 in the Myers Mortuary Chapel in Layton. Honorary pallbearers were Gerald Cook, Raymond Bean, Carl Albrecht, Clint Hayes, Lynn Burton and Norris W. Nalder. Paul M. Billings Paul Michael Billings, 36, of Ogden, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1986 at his home of a cardiac arrest. He was bom July 10, 1950 in Ogden, a son of Alfred and Helen Trunkey Billings. He had been an electrian at Hill Air Force Base. He was a former resident of Layton and graduated from Davis High School. Surviving are two sons and one daughter by a previous marriage, Bank's Transit No. 124301 17 Zachary Billings, Jeremy Billings and Tiffany Billings, all of Ogden. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Helen T. Richie, Columbus, Ohio; one brother A. Jerry Billings, Virginia Beach, Va. He was preceded in death by his father.
