Show DAVIS SEPTEMBER 18, 1985 REFLEX-JOURNA- She wears big shoes Business is booming By TOM HARALDSLN BOUNTIFUL - A wise man once said, A oman has to stay on her toes to avoid a lot of heels." Whether or not that applies to a young Bountiful woman making a name for herself in the shoe clothing business, the business seems to be working for Shelley Anderson. THE ATTRACTIVE Bountiful native has set out into business for herself, and her product line is imported shoes for Cabbage Patch and Heavenly Kid type dolls. Though still early to tell how things will go for her dow n the road, Ms. Anderson has found the response so far absolutely amazing. "These shoes have only been in the country for a couple of months," she stated. "Already, stores in southern California are selling out of them. We expect the interest will be about that strong here in Utah once the word gets out." -- w some places County, the word has gotten out. The shoes, handcrafted in England in a variety of styles and colors, have become a hot item for Ms. Anderson, whose first shipment of 50 pair disappeared almost immediately. She is now stocking the shoes and has a wide selection available for customers who've contacted her from throughout the state. Part of the attraction is the big doll crae. The manufacturers of the leading two types of dolls are predicting record sales this Christmas. Already, Cabbage Patch dolls have been scalped for three or four times their original price in parts of Salt Lake City But Ms. Anderson realized that with the craze towards the there would be a need for dolls shoes and clothing. i in Davis AND IN . ever-increasin- g, "THERE WERE several different stores specializing in clothing for the dolls, but the foot fashion area was being neglected." she stated. Thus, a London-basecompany began manufacturing designer shows for the dolls. Unlike many other imported products, Shelley's shoes are relatively inexpensive. Shoes sell for $6.99 a pair, a selling point for those who've spent anywhere front $30 to $100 a piece for the dolls themselves.
