On Oct. 7, 1907, she married Joseph Holbrook of east Bountiful. Her honeymoon was spent traveling by horse and wagon with their belongings, from W'oods Cross to their farm in Syracuse, and the trip took two days. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Holbrook died in 1950. Rubie Ellis Holbrook, now living in Syracuse, celebrated her 90th birthday on May 7, 1980 at the Heritage Senior Citizen Center in Clearfield. SHE IS an avid supporter of the many activities offered at the Center, occupies her time four days a week there, working with ceramics, bead work, playing cards and participating in the potluck dinners and other activities with her MRS. HOLBROOK has lived on the Syracuse farm for friends. She enjoyed a big birthday cake at the Center which her family furnished and which was served to all those who were at the Center that day. the past 73 years and has watched the area progress from a place, to a town, and then to a city, with many im- portant changes which includes three businesses, a city hall and the Syracuse Branch of Clearfield State Bank being SHE WAS born May 7, 1890 in Woods Cross at 2020 S. 1800 W now Redwood Road, just MRS. THE BRIDE is a graduate of Timpview High School and seminary program. The groom attended Cypress College in California, and works in public relations for radio and television. Their honeymoon was spent in California. Course was the setting for the marriage of Jone Layton and Tyrone James Aranda on April 18. Pres. Gayle Stevenson performed the rites. A W EDDING reception was held at the golf course. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Donald A. Layton, 478 W. Antelope Drive, Layton. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Jesus Aranda, 910 Hill Blvd., Layton. THE BRIDE wore a white full length gown with high lace collar made of sheer chiffon over taffeta. The gown had long puffed sleeves with buttoned cuffs of sheer chiffon. Finger-lengt- veil was h attached to a white floppy hat with white flowers gathering it in the back. Maid of honor was Miss Sandra Evans. Bridesmaids were Miss Susan Harris and Miss Kristie VanVliet. They wore yellow County. Mrs. Holhrook has lived in Davis County all of her life and has contributed much to her community, to her county and to her state. Her congeniality has always been one of her greatest assests. She has been a Relief Society visiting Club leader, a teacher, a local officer in the PTA and active in both Davis County and Utah State Farm Bureau Federation. She has been a supervisor at many Davis County Fairs, a local officer in DUP and a former member of the Kaysville Rotary Anns. THIS BUSY lady has also been active in political circles and assisted her husband as a RUBIE E. HOLBROOK across the street from what is now Sky Park Airport. Her parents were Joseph Ezra Ellis and Harriet Elnora .Burnham Ellis.
