Why do we postpone, indefinitely, the writing of our family histones? Sharon DeBartolo Carmack, a Record certified Genealogical the of Utah and Fellow Specialist Genealogical Association, gives five excuses why we don't get our family history written. (1) I don't have the time, (2) Fm not a writer; (3) Fd rather do research; (4) Fm entering my research into a software program. I wrote for my brother and contains 134 pages with the index And the number of pages included a multitude of pictures in each book My 1999 year was pretty well taken up with the writing of these three histories I think the books are simply written (how else could thev be, if I write them1) so all could understand the stories It was a project l m very happy to have completed But. must admit, it brought much soul satisfaction to me should be written about each family That includes your grandparents' families if you can acquire enough information for both sides. If not. embrace both grandparents' families in one book Certainly your own family should be in one book If you have your book well organized, it doesn't have to be long Carmack said many excellent family history books contain only 112 to 125 pages (8 12x11 format) and rarely do the better books run over 150 pages, including the index Pardon me for relating a little personal experience.
