Show Crooks Like Christmas As the holiday season approaches, the business community is preparing for the heaviest shopping period of the year. Many retail businesses do a major part of thejr yearly volume from late November through Christmas. Christ-mas. The criminal element also does its major business during this time. Losses mount from shoplifting, bad checks, stolen credit cards and many other types of illegal activity. TO PREPARE a counter-offensive counter-offensive against these losses, a seminar is planned for the Bountiful area for retail sales people, cashiers, and others involved in retail trade. The program is free and will be held awhe Queen Theater on Nov. 30from 8: 15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and includes a continental con-tinental breakfast to start the morning activity. The program includes tips to detect shoplifters, how to cut bad check losses, how to spot stolen credit cards, recognition of counterfeit money, guard against short change artists, and how to outwit price tag switchers. A NEW and comprehensive film presentation is planned and a panel of experts will be available to answer questions. The special participants will . be from the U.S. Secret Service, Ser-vice, Bountiful and Davis County law enforcement agencies, American Express Company, and specialist from Valley Bank. The Bountiful Valley Bank is the sponsor of the local presentation which is one of 13 presented along - the Wasatch front as a service of Valley Bank and Trust. |
