On April 25, members ofj The Church of the Resurrection, an Episcopal church, voted to begin a new venture separate from Bountiful Community Church, a congregation of the United Church of Christ. The vote came after more than a year of discussions among members of both churches. Though there is sadness at marking the end of a long and unique ecumenical relationship, many see the move as an exciting opportunity for more defined clearly identities and ministries. "There has been a growing restlessness on the part of many in the Episcopal congregation that God is calling them to a new .ministry," Breckenridge said, "and that vision involves a yearning to be more closely connected with we are financially and emotionally and where we'll go from there." Anglican traditions. The whole question of identity has become a big issue. The ecumenical expression was exciting and challenging for many, but times have changed. That has been a COMMUNITY SERVICE BULLETIN BOARD VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES for Davis County where The two denominations got together in the late 1960s when The Church of The Resurrection was meeting in a Bountiful Jeep Posse building. The Rev. Don Mills, then painful discernment process because for many the ecumenical approach has been valid." Bountiful Community Church times church pastor, invited them to meet in his church. The relationship was formalized in 1968. They established combined and separate Proctor said he was disappointed when the decision was first made, but that he is ready to look at the opportunities. "This has been an ecumenical venture that worked for a lot of people, but it failed with those who want a more Anglican, liturgical experience," he said. "At first I felt reactive, disappointed and discouraged. Now I feel we can become more identity conscious ourselves, and we may look for another ecumenical venture of some kind. Give us a year and let us see worship and administration under a joint board of directors. They shared church school programs, choir participation and other aspects of their routine existence. Bountiful Community Church will remain in the present building and Church of the Resurrection will move into a building at 92 E. Pages Lane on Sept. 1 .
