With only a couple of weeks to go the outcome is still uncertain. A win or loss in some cases could mean a championship, a tie or settling for 2nd place. The pressure is going to go right down to the end the results at this point can only be speculated. In the Jr. High League the Blue Jays are undefeated with a 0 record. Triple S is a close second with 4 wins and 1 loss. The standings for the other teams are: Rockets 2 4 Pink Panthers Warriors In elementary action the Tough Tigers lost their first game last Thursday, but are still in first place with a 1 record. Close behind are the Powder Puffs and West Point III tied for second place, with six wins and. two losses. Wins are critical for each of these teams in the games left to play. Bring your bikes and come and participate in a Bicycle Rodeo! Youngsters compete in Olympics The Clearfield Recreation Department is proud to announce local winners at the annual Davis Co. Jr. Olympic Championships, held at Davis High School last Wednesday. Participants qualified at the local meet before going to this county competition. The day was perfect for a track and field event with great weather and high anticipation. Events included: Run, Jump and Dodge, 50 yd. dash standing broad jump, softball and baseball throw, 20 yard one foot hop, shuttle run, and cross country and relay races. Youngsters from all over thp county participated to make these championships a big event where competition ran tough. In their age groups the winners from Clearfield were: Robert Henderson 3rd cross country, 2nd 50 yd. dash. Shelley Leake 1st 50 yd. dash. 2nd 3rd cross Run, Jump and Dodge country. cross Sheri Waggoner 1st 1st one 20 foot 2nd hop. yard country, 50 yd. dash. With everyone putting forth their maximum efforts 16 medals were won by the twenty youngsters that represented Clearfield. Clearfield to host baseball tourneys The Clearfield Recreation Department will be hosting this years major and senior Little League Tournaments at Baseball Fisher Park in Clearfield during the Teams entered in week of July the major League Tournament will be representing Little League programs from Clearfield, Sunset, West Point, Clinton and the Randy Russell Baseball League in Ogden. Games will be held on Diamond A starting at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. July 14 to All-St- 14-1- W.F.F.L sign-u- p teams 18. Senior League will be representing the Clearfield and Sunset Little League programs and Clinton Games will be played at the All-St- July Fisher Park lighted diamond each night at 8 p.m. With no games being held Tuesday, July 15. Some day games may be planned for Saturday July 19th. So come and see the best youth baseball players in the area compete. Division to sponsor bird commemorating week The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources will be commemorating For the Birds Week in Utah by participating in a bird exposition at Cottonwood Mall, Salt Lake City, on July 11. Live birds will be part of Division's display. Division officers will be available to answer questions about all species of birds in the state. July The Clearfield Recreation Department had a busy day July 4th as they participated in and sponsored contests and events in connection with the Independence Day Celebration. The day started bright and early as last minute preparations were made for parade entries. Representing the Clearfield Recreation Department in the parade were their Drill and Baton teams, clown, class enthusiasts, Little League Baseball and W.W.F.L. football participants. After the parade, Central Park in Clearfield was the setting for the games and events run by the recreation Department for the rest of the afternoon. The Family Freedom Fun Events was a course of different games open all afternoon. Points were earned at each event and totalled when completed. There was a Candy Guessing Game as part of these events. Other contests were run at half hour intervals, these included: Crutch race, nail driving contest, balloon stomp, cracker eating and whistling contest and an adults singles horseshoe tournament. Winners in each age group were awarded ribbons. The day was full of sun and fun a perfect way to celebrate the 4th of July.
