V NORTHERN UTAH - 1979 fishing socson comos Utah's general fishing season will come to an end on Friday, November 30, at 9 p.m. Northern Utah waters have produced some fine late season fishing. Area streams and lakes have produced for the bait fishermen as well as some very excellent fly fishing. One of the areas top fishing waters is Lost Creek Reservoir. Lost Creek continues to produce limits to those die hard fishermen to a clooo this Firdoy at 9 p.m.; Roports ohowouccooo the cold willing to brave weather. Reports from various areas of the state indicate that fishermen at Soldier Creek and Deer Creek Reservoirs are having good luck. Strawberry Reservoir is having its best fishing of the season with cutthroat and rainbows up to 6 pounds. One of Northern Utahs most ignored waters in the past is Bear Lake. This past year has been the most productive year for angling success in the memory of many Bear Lake fishermen. The catch is including Rainbow, Bear Lake Cutthroat, and Mackinaw. The Cutthroat are ranging in size from one pound up to 12 pounds, and the Mackinaw from 3 pounds to 20 pounds. Bear Lake is open to angeling year round. Spawning activity for Brown trout is now in full swing in many of the area streams and anglers are landing some very nice fish. The end of the general season on Friday does not mark the end of Ashing for the year. There will remain quite a few waters open to fishing. These Northern Utah waters include Mantua reservoir, Willard Bay, The Ogden River below the Pineview Dam, the Weber River below the Morgan county line, the Logan and Blacksmith fork below U.S. 89 and 91, and Flaming Gorge and Bear Lake. Fishermen are reminded that Locomotive Springs are closed to angeling beginning November 15, and will remain so until January 15, 1980. |
