Fuller during the tea hour. Mrs. Fred W. Meakin and Mrs. Clarence Elmer Traver have issued invitations for a tea to be given December 23 at the Meakin home, 1414 Sigs-be- e avenue. The affair is to honor Miss Jeane B. Lawton, whose engagement to Mrs. Travers son, Clarence, has been announced. The hours are from 3 until 5 oclock. pliment to the couple. Waters 'entertained a Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Sowles entertained a few close friends at an infor- mal dinner in their home in the Maryland apartments on Tuesday evening. Scarlet and green were chosen for the color motif and Christmas greens and berries were arranged in a silver basket which centered the table. Following dinner, three tables of bridge were at play. WEDDINGS. Three December weddings of prominent young Calt Lake society folk engage be interest in the social calendar. President and Mrs. Heber J. Grant announce the engagement of their niece, Miss June Woodruff, to Isaac M. Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. 'Chas. B. Stewart of Los Angeles. The wedding will take place in Washington, Wednesday, December 23, at the home of Senator Reed Smooth. Miss Woodruff, accompanied by President Grant, has already left for the east. She is a graduate of the University of Utah and a member of the Delta Epsilon sorority. Mr. Stewart is a former student at the University of California and is at present attending the George Washington University in Washington, D. C., while acting as a secretary for Senator Reed Smoot. He is a member of the Phi Delta fraternity. The engagement of Miss Lou Jean McKay to Russell H. Blood is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David 0. McKay. Mr. Blood is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Blood. The wedding is scheduled for December 28. ' Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Oliver Lawton announce the coming nuptials of their daughter, Jean Blackburn, and Clarence Oliver Traver.
