Show THE CITIZEN 8 more than fourteen years, using the spoils from their acts of outlawry to relieve the poverty of many Confederate' families. In addition to Jesse James the Paramount will offer a complete motion picture history of the American Legion convention in Paris, which many Utah posts of the organization . plan to visit en masse. A Paramount comedy and a concert by Curg Peterson and the Paramount orchestra, with Ethel Hogan at the Wurlitzer, will complete this weeks offering. ' . BROADWAY FAVORITES APPEAR AT THE CAPITOL What the stage star does and where she goes after making her last bow are some of the things re- cur-tai- n in "The Spotlight, starring Esther Ralston, now at the Capitol. Miss Ralston takes the part of a Broadway favorite in this intriguing picture of stage life directed by vealed Frank Tuttle.. Practically all the pictures action occurs backstage in a theatre. The stars dressing room is the scene of some of the effective and intensely interesting sequences. The plot centers about the tremendous problems that confront a girl who has climbed to fame through sacrificing her own identity to play a part that she cannot put aside even when she leaves the stage. In the picture Esther Ralston is shown as a timid, shrinking blonde and a dazzling, sophisticated brunette. The transformation is amazing. There is a love complication in the story, of course, but it is not the usual sort of love plot. The girl has a momentous decision to make and the man learns that things are not always what they seem even women. Hamilton, handsome young leading man, takes the part of the Neil man who falls in love with an ideal. Nicholas Soussanin, talented Russian actor, has an Important role as Kane, the theatrical producer who by his genius makes a star from a girl that liaa never been able to attract a second glance from anyone. Arlette Marchall, fascinating Parisian girl, and Arthur Housman have good sup- to porting parts. On. the stage Fanchon and Marco present another spectacular extravaganza, in the form of their Pari sian Idea. Colors are flaunted in the faces of customers in the show. It is Parisian, no doubt about that, and you will agree that the well known team has strained the point to make the presentation elaborate. It is a whirlwind of song and dance. Parisian Idea is iln-doubte- one of the most enjoyable stage acts which the Capitol Has yet offered. Into a den of artists. Into a den of mad musicians. It is a hilarious night in Paris one spends with Alberti and his band, Carlos and Dorothy, internationally famed dancers, Pyramid Trio, and above all the twenty beautiful artists models, a number of whom step from the line to offer specialty numbers of outstanding ability. FAMOUS CONKLIN STARS IN SUPER FILM CASTS A St. Louis baker gave Chester Conklin, one of the stars of Tell It to Skeeney, now at the Victory, the idea for that walrus moustache he wears in his Paramount screen comedies. Several years ago, after Conklin had run away from home to make his own vray in the world, he got a job in the baking establishment, kneading, as he puts it, the dough. His boss August Schultz, was the proud possessor of a unique set of whiskers on his upper lip. Conklin took a fancy to OLIVER ALBERTI, popular leader of the Capitol Theatre orchestra, whose work as a leader and a soloist is winning widespread attention among musicians and critics. them and even went so far as to hide away an artificial set for future reference.
