Show SIXTEEN THE YEAR I The Department of the Interior created an artificial flood in the Grand Canyon when it opened up the flood gates on Glen Canyon Dam. The high water was supposed to stir up downstream sediment, create new beaches and improve habitat for wildlife. The Bureau of Reclamation called it a great success. Critics (like the Zephyr) thought it was a lot of nonsense.Jet's get rid of the real problem: THE DAM. However, defenders of the action have a point when they say.
