Show r i Zula Chase Visited by Children bv Kvrlrnr Moodv Captain Milford Chase, Rickenbacker Air Force Base, Columbus, Ohio and his sister, Ida Jorgensen and son Greg of Annandale, Va., have been visiting with their mother, Mrs. Zula Chase in Smithfield as Gordon and Vicki Chase in Richmond and son Bryan Lynn. They also came to attend the wedding of their sister, Lucille Chase, to Lee Clark in the Ogden Temple March 17. They attended the reception in the Millville ward hall and a breakfast given at the Juniper Inn earlier in the day. Ida visited her husbands parents, Rela and Lee Jorgensen and daughter in Logan and Joan and Deverl Hoth in Smithfield. A dinner party was held recently at Marvs Cafe in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Neeley, former Cornish residents who have moved to Smithfield. It was given by the present Cornish town board. Others present were Jay and Josie Robinson, who were also honored and now live in Smithfield. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Godfrey, Byron and Virginia Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Buttars, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pitcher and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Creech. Mrs. Gwen' Bowman, her daughter and husband, Ora and Reed Low, Smithfield, drove to Springfield, Ore. (near Eugene) to visit Mrs. Bowman's two daughters, Lois Fifield and Chrystabel Fifield and Dixie and Bruce Fonnesbeck and three children, Teresa, Gary and MartyGwen was gone three large crowd attended. Birdie and Harry Mack spent three weeks in St. A George where Harry got in some golf. They then visited Idaho Falls and Birdies brother. (8-1- I ALEEN SMITH Aleen Smith has been a resident of Lewiston, Utah, for 25 years, was born and raised at Richmond. She is married to Farrell D. Smith, dairy farmer. Aleen has been active in the LDS church, serving in the Primary 22 years, and is a member of the ward choir, presently serving as the ward choir director. She has worked in several years and has also worked at the grocery stores in Lewiston for 12 years. The Smiths have six children: Vickie Watt who lives at Pingree, Idaho, Judy Smith who lives in Lewiston and works in the purchasing department at Pepperidge Farm in Richmond; Sharron Wood, who lives in Lewiston and works at Andys Drive In; Carol Nichols, who lives in Lewiston, and is the manager at Andy's Drive In; Wendy Smith, who is a senior at Sky View High and Alan Smith, a sixth grader at Lewiston Elementary. They also have one granddaughter, and eight grandsons. Her hobbies are sewing, crocheting, music and watching her husbands cutter races. Her familys favorite recipes are: 4-- H SWEDISH MEATBALLS Soak while preparing meat: 4 slices bread 2 eggs Vi cup milk Mix: lVit lbs. hamburger 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 4 Tbsp. chopped onion 2 tsp. baking powder Mix meat mixture and bread. Form into meatballs and fry. Cover with: 1 can mushroom soup 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 can canned milk Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees. FROSTY MANDARIN SALAD 2 pkgs. (3 oz. each) orange Jello cups boiling water 1 can mandarin oranges 1 pint orange sherbet, softened Dissolve jello in boiling water. Drain oranges, measuring syrup. Add water to make 1 cup. Add to gelatin. Blend in sherbet and mandarin oranges. Pour into 1 quart mold. 8 servings. 2 SKILLET COOKIES cup dates, chopped fine cup white sugar 1 egg, beaten 4 cup butter or margarine Combine above ingredients. Cook five minutes stirring constantly. ' Add: cup chopped nuts 2 cups Rice Krispies 1 tsp. vanilla Stir into top ingredients. Drop by spoonful and roll in coconut. Flatten with hands. I keep them in the freezer then use as needed. 1 1 CLAM CHOWDER can minced clams cup diced celery 2 cups diced potatoes 4 Tbsp. minced dry onion, (soak in a little water) 4 cup butter 1 qt. rich milk 14 tsp. salt Sprinkle pepper '4 tsp. sugar 34 cup flour Drain juice from clams and pour over vegetables in medium sauce pan. Add enough water to barely cover and simmer, covered, over medium heat until potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes. In meantime melt butter, add flour'and blend and cook a minute or two. Add milk and cook until thick and smooth using wire whisk. In ward 1 King's Complete Trip Laree KodiU Lewiston A pleasant vacation trip for Norman and Vcnda King took them to the Northwest and down the Coast Highway. At Seattle, Wash., they were guests of Venda's sis ter, Nona, and her husband Dale I,ee. In Salem, Ore., the Kings visited with Venda's brother. Hal Jorgensen, and his wife. Donna. They then drove down the beautiful Oregon coastline to Moraga, Calif.; where they spent several days with their son. Jay King, his wife. Gayle, and their children, Julie and David. Norman spent one night at Modesto. Calif., with Mr. and Mrs. Bart Layne and their family. Bart trains race horses there. Dennis Morrison, formerly of Lewiston, but now living in Florida, was in California on business and stayed with the Jay Kings that weekend. Major LaMar Sleight, his wife, Sharma, and their children, Lesa, Cindy, Michelle and Todd, have been visiting in Lewiston. They were guests of Sharmas parents. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Hawkins, fora few days. The Sleight family lives in Scotts-bluf- f. Neb., where Major Sleight is assigned with the U.S. Army. During their vacation they also visited with family members in Pocatello. On Thursday Mabel and Ferris Jensen were in Salt Lake City where they visited their son, Richard, and his family. Richard has acquired an automotive supply business in that city. En route home the Jensens stopped in Ogden to see their son, Bernell, and his family. March 13 was the birthdate of Kory Ann Buttars. She is the daughter of Darrel and Debra Buttars of Logan who have another daughter, Jennifer, who is 21 years old. Proud grandparents are Ar-li- n and Dolores Buttars, Lewiston, and A1 and Marge Bellingham, Wertman, Wash. Announcement is made by Garth and DeAnn Chambers that they have their second grandchild, a girl. She was born on March 14 to Annette and Kim Rinderknecht of Providence. The infants parents have chosen to name her Angela. Their First child is named Amy. The other grandparents are Joe and Vada Rinderknecht of Providence. Under the direction of Allen Grunig and Lynne Doney, a spelling contest has been held in the Lewiston Elementary School among the fourth, fifth and sixth grade students. Through the process of elimination there were 24 students, eight from each grade, who were included in the final spelling match of the contest at the school. The parents were invited to attend this match on Friday afternoon. Judges for the event were Cecil Archibald and Gerrie Holt. The list of words was read to the contestants by Norma Bodily. The last four students remaining in the contest will go on to further competition in the county. They are Connie Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald P. Hansen; DeVon La brum, son of Mr. and Mrs'. Duane Labrum; Shellie Cornish, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cornish and Janene Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seth Allen. These four winners were presented with T shirts.
