Show ( I THE CITIZEN AUGUST THURSDAY, 22. 1974 Sleights End Vacation by Cooper Attends Convention Larre Bodily Lewiston Captain LaMar Sleight and his family have returned to their home in Columbus, Georgia, after having been in Cache Valley for a ten day vacation. LaMar, Sharma, and their children, Lesa, Cindy and Michele, were house guests of Sharma's parents, Pearl and Orson Hawkins. They all spent three days at the Palisades in Idaho. Janice Hawkins spent last week in Pocatello, Idaho, visiting with relatives. Her sister, Linda, visited relatives in Preston for four days. Saturday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Orson Hawkins were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Harvey and Mrs. Bonnie Rydalch and her son, of Tooele; Mr. and Mrs. Bar-- s tow Hawkins, Magna; Mr. and Mrs. Eric Showgren and their two sons and a daughter, San Jose, Calif. ; Mr. and Mrs. George Hawkins and their six children, Bountiful; Mrs. Phyllis Brown, American Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Hawkins, Richmond, and Mr. and Mrs. Cecile Kent, Lewiston. everyone who had in any way influenced Steven's life in helping him to be worthy of his call to be a missionary. Eddie Bodily, a brother, gave a talk which included many points of wisdom and advice for all to heed. He was followed by Bishop Boyce Pitcher who told of his appreciation for Steven and his family. Steven was the concluding speaker and he told of his lifelong desire to be a missionary and expressed a wish that he might serve his church well. ' Two vocal solos were presented for the program. Joy Johnson sang I'll Walk With God, accompanied by Miss Eppich; Norma Bodily sang with ac"My Testimony companiment by Diane Hall. The prayers were given by Dennis Thurgood and Ted Bodily. Drive to Gallup Supper Held Sunday evening honoring Mr. and Mrs. Gawson Karren and Mrs. Mildred Karren attended an open house in Logan. The occasion honored Mrs. Myrtle Karren Bowles on her 75th birthday. Mrs. Bowles, a Lewiston native, is a daughter of the late Thomas S. and Georgianna Leavitt Karren. Steven Bodily who will be leaving soon to represent the LDS Church in the New York, Rochester mission. Bardo and Wanda Bodily, Steven's parents, bore their testimonies and thanked All of the Others attending were Bardo Richards' eleven children and Wanda Bodily, Ellen were home for the occasion. Fam and Mary Perkins and their children, Larry and Judy, vacationed in California for a week. At Riverside they visited with Farn's sister, Edith, and her husband. Miles Hall. At Valley Center they also visited a brother, Dean Perkins, and his family, and spent some time with Mrs. Tina Tabor and her family. The huge Balboa Zoo at San Diego was of great interest to them as was the time they spent at the beaches. In Anaheim, another brother, Andy, and his family were their hosts. While there they spent a day at Disneyland. Michael and Arlene Petersen, with their children Karen, Eric, and Amy, of Richland, Wash., are vacationing in Cache Valley. They are guests of Michaels parents, Russell and Barbara Peter-aeJanet Petersen who has been in school at Ricks College during the summer is also presently at home. n. Sunday afternoon, a picnic dinner at the Lewiston Recreation Park was enjoyed by the Bardo Bodily family; the Vertis Bodily family; Ardell and Geo Cherry and their family, Ogden; Arlie Bodily Matkin and her daughter, Darline, of Showlow, Ariz.; Suel Bodily, Idaho Falls; Eddie and Sharon Bodily and their children, Dublin, Calif.; Sue and Dennis Thurgood and their family, Hooper, Utah; Janice and Lloyd Fields, Twin Falls, Idaho; Joy Johnson, TRENTON Roland and Mabel Mortenson accompan- ied thirty seven members of Sons of Pioneers on a tour of California, and attended the national convention held at Squaw Valley. En route they visited such interesting places as Goloma, Sutter's Mill, attended the dedication of a new road, which was dedicated and named Mormon Emigrant Trail, formerly Iron Mountain Road. The members of the first Mormon battalion built is road east, then they were returning from fighting the Mexican-America- n War and is the road in Calfirst East-weifornia. The road leaves Coloma and goes over the Donner Pass meeting with Jim Bridger Highway. It passes Tragedy Springs and Donner Park and museum. Saturday evening they attended the Presidents Military Ball at Squaw Valley where Roland acted as color bearer for the Flag Ceremony. Maurice and Elaine Harding of Salmon, Idaho visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. William V. Connary and Mr. and Mrs. William D. Connary. Sharon Griffin, and friend Kathy Barnes of Ogden are visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Mortenson. , . f .Julius P. Jensen and Reed were the speakers at Sacrament meeting Sunday evening.
