Show OF LEWIS bartholomew when the word was passed around on thursday afternoon of last week that mr lewis bartholomew had died at his mothers home at rock hock springs wyo lyoa a gloom was cast over hla his many friends in this city although the gentleman had rel resided aided in brigham less than a year he had bad made many friends and his bereaved wife formerly miss maud harris was born aua and reared in this cay city after the marriage of mr air and sirs mrs bartholomew which occurred tour four years ago they removed to malad and engaged in the confectionery business until last fall when they came to this city and abd opened up the bungalow candy and ice cream parlor inside work did not agree with VT mr bartholomew so he disposed of his interest in the business business to his prother brother in law 16 mr henry harris and for a time managed the vienna cafe but his health became so poor that he was forced to ghe heup he up that also during the winter mr bartholomew has been confined to his bis bed most of the time and about two weeks ago he be was taken to rock springs wyo to be operated upon for pleurisy the operation Ns was as successful and he came thru the ordeal in good shape A few days later be contracted a cola cold and pneumonia monta dov developed elope d the end coming quickly as ag his body was in no cond condition to withstand the ravages of tile the disease lie ile died on thursday last his wife being with him when he expired the body was prepared for shipment and brought home arriving here saturday morning accompanied by the wife mother and a numar number of other relatives funeral services ivere were held in a the first ward meeting house on sunday chock cI ocK the we bishop GO geo W W watkins ernest P horsley brigham M jones araham abraham evans and pres W C horsley II the musical fi numbers umbers were the hymns 1 11 I need thee every hour and 0 grave where is thy victory riC tory by the choir a duette by miss mirl storied and her brother 0 my father by harvey peirce and sometime well understand by mirl stoney the services were most impressive and comforting and a wealth of floral emblems bore testimony ailigh regard in which the deceased was held and the sympathy felt for those bereft the prayers were offered by elders thos H blackburn and jesse W hoopes M mr r bartholomew i was as born in ogden twenty five years ago and was a young man of clean habits and exceptional ability the future held out very bright prospects to him until stricken with the disease that forced him to give up his activities I 1 the news extends sincere sympathy to mrs bartholomew who Is left alone for they had no children and may an alloise providence add unto hr h r that strength necessary to enable her to bedr bear with fortitude the great sorrow that has come into her life |
