Show DEATH OF JUS W M calm and peacefully the spirit ot of james may passed from this life into the other at the family home in calls fort tuesday afternoon about 2 0 clock the cause of death was general debility or in other words the machinery which had been keyed up to such a high pitch for so many years could not stand the strain any longer and a useful life ended the history of james may is replete with incidents of a stirring character but in every event of life he revealed the strong traits of his character which could be summed up in the one leord ord fidelity ile he was true trite to every trust ills his word was his bond and his ambition was to do good inured to hardship from his earliest infancy almost he has been i pioneer and a most successful one public spirited by nature he always looked and planned ahead for the welfare of the community and was always a leading spirit in matters cf improvement and development james may was born june 1st ast 1932 in berkshire england ile he heard and accepted the gospel in his native land leaving there with his fathers I 1 family in the year 1852 bound for zion the jounney across the ocean occupied ten weeks the company landing in fit new orleans then proceeded up the mississippi river in a steam boat which was destroyed by tit an explosion mr may and his relatives escaped unharmed however on the journey across the plains he was called upon to bury his father mother and sister then shortly after arrival in utah a brother brothel died ilia his first home was waa in bountiful where he remained several years then their removed to this county locating mi the string A year later he went back to bountiful and remained there until when he moved to franklin being one of the pioneers of that place lie he with his family went back to bountiful again then came to his old home on the string march 14 1861 which aich has been the home of himself and family ever since at this time the home of 0 james may was the only homestead between Brigham City and idaho falls in 1889 he went up to canada locating as one of the plo seers and there he has labored aw ani tolled to build up a commonwealth being very successful ile he has a wife and family living ther now on their own owa farm lie he spent one wilteron win winter teron on a mission to the eastern states and the winter of 1886 7 he spent as a guistat gu estat the where lic h adileen sentenced six months montha or conscience sake through his energy the first school house and present meeting house at calls fort were built and he was also prominent in civil affairs ot of this county in early days in a church way james may imay was like the elvei lasting hills faithful and true his religion was his all and during hk his last years the great desire of his soul was to work in the temple for his kindred dead lie ile was very cry active until nature called a halt some weeks ago he was brought down aiom canada on a cot and has been lingering from that time until the angel l of death bid him come last tuesday ile he leases two wives and 20 dill dren besides many grand children four children preceded their father to the spirit world ile he also leaves a bi other who has tiled most of ills his life at fort washakie Wash akle in wyoming where lie he acted for many years as a guide and indian interpreter ills his friends are legion and many there are who when memory calls back the experiences of this man mail will bless tho the name of james may ilay funeral services will be held in the harper ward meeting house saturday at 2 the cortege will ill leave the family home at 1 sharp |
