That is quite an accomplishment for such a town as ours. Tammy Schmidt did a baton routine in the intermediate age group and placed in the finalist for that age. In the senior division Wendy Holmgren and Gwen Thomas sang some old time songs. Don Braegger played his saxophone and Susan Jenson sang a solo. Other winners for the event were, Jamie Pursley, Lauri, Sandra and Sarah Hansen, for the junior division, Robin Glenn and a group called Solitude for the intermediate and Sue Ferry for the Senior. Congratulations to all of you. The town board will meet Thursday (tonight) at the town hall. Every one is invited to attend to view what is going on in our town. Had Visitor of Eaglo Friday night at aerie Eaglo with plenty of prizes Friday night at 8 p m. Happy hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Eagles aerie at 912 North Main. Saturday and Sunday will be a state visitation at the new Eagles aerie in Price. Aug. 27 is the annual Eagles corn bust and dance starting at 7 pm. with dinner. The dance begins at 9 with music by Ernie Apodaca. Proceeds from the dance will go to the ladies auxiliary will be held Mr. and Mrs. Chester Chris- tensen have had a visitor this past two weeks. Their granddaughter Jacki from Hyde Park visited with them for a short vacation. Mrs. Rasmus Christensen just returned from a vacation with her children and grandchildren to Canada. They traveled to motor home and had a great time visiting and touring the country. Mr. and Mrs. Delwin Hansen just returned from a three-wee- k vacation. They traveled to New York to visit with their daughter Carol and her husband and new little daughter. While they were gone they attended the Hill Cumorah Pageant and traveled on a river tour on the St. Lawrence river. They stopped in at Nauvoo, 111. and visited with Jack and Alva Hardy. Jack took them on his tour and they visited many sights around there. She reported that Alva runs an historic bakery. She makes fresh gingerbread men and gives one to every person that visits the bakery. While in Nauvoo they also attended the City of Joseph Pageant. It told the story of Joseph Smith in music, song and dance. They had a very nice time and enjoyed their visits greatly. To Idaho The mens softball team traveled to Idaho to play in the finals last week. They won their first game and then were eliminated because they lost their second. They did a fine job in representing out town. Congratulations, men. At Deweyville Box Elder stake. Deweyville was organized as a ward on Aug. 19, 1877. Dewey was named bishop with Orvil R. Child and Anson C. Loveland counselors. He served as reli- - gious leader for 26 years. The observance begins Friday night with a family picnic and state class B horseshoe tournament. Saturday will see a flag ceremony, musical program, more horseshoe pitching, games for the kids, and ball games and a pit barbecue. Sunday will conclude the festivities with the special sacrament meeting starting at 6 p.m. Deweyville, first known as Dewey Springs, was organized as a branch on Aug. 15, 1869 by Bishop Alvin Nichols of Brigham City. Beth Oyler won an award for the senior accuracy throwing in local competition. Congratulations. The Golden Spike Young Homemakers traveled to Brigham City this past week to attend their annual tour. They visited Champion Home Builders Inc., Mill and Mix, and American Greetings. They enjoyed their tour and learned alot while they were there. Helen Hansen had a quilting bee at her home recently. Twelve women from town attended and made a quilt for LeeAnna Sorenson Caldwell. It was a surprise to her and the women had fun making it for her and her new husband. Dale Cheney, from Syracuse, just returned home from a s stay at our home. He stayed and got his fill of farming until next year. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Cheney, Curts cousins. While here he attended a play at the Heritage Theatre with Bessie Christensen and Jacki Christensen to celebrate his birthday and then at a later date they attended a movie together. The Relief society fall social is coming up at the end of the month. Dont forget that the fair is just around the corner also.
