On the 24th of July Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Woerner and baby, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Corbridge of Bountiful joined them for the day. Spending the weekend at the Allred home were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Butler, Mr. and Mrs. John Preece and baby of Bountiful. Mr. and Mrs. Jed Allred of Tugunga, Calif, have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Jensen and other relatives in this area. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Pierson and children Greg, Jana and David left Sunday morning for their home in Reno after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Pierson and other relatives in this area. Weekend guests of Mrs. Hazel Rose were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Rose and children Lori and Ryan of Brigham City. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Eph Peterson are their grandchildren Ronald and Bobbie Cole of Sunset. Houseguests at the home of Mrs. Mabel Munns are her son and daughter-in-laDr. and Mrs. Dale (Colleen) Haws and children LaDawn, Brent, Julie and Sandra of Recife, Brazil. Dr. Haws and his family are enroute to the Philippines where Dr. Haws is an agricultural advisor for the Rockefeller Ford Foundation. This will be their permanent home. Other houseguests are Mrs. Jesse (Annie) Lee and son Ronald of Eugene, Ore. w Saturday Mrs. Rhea Fuhriman entertained three of her cousins at brunch. They were Viola Elm of Ogden, Adeena Bear of San Pedro, Calif., Letha Stenquist of Tremonton. Sunday dinner guests at the Fuhriman home were Mr. and Mrs. Warren Christensen and four children of Salt Lake City and Frank Wood of Fielding. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glade Timothy were Mr. and Mrs. Max Flinders of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Jensen Jr. of Garland. Both couples attended church in Park Valley where Max Flinders was the guest speaker. Glade Timothy was a guide for a group of 35 men who enjoyed a fishing trip in the Uintahs. Jay Munns of Garland was among the group. Most of the others were from the Provo area. Attend Reception Mr. and Mrs. DeLos Udy and daughter Tamara accompanied by Mrs. Donald Vanderhoof and children Paige and Layne of Plymouth and Mrs. Beverly Roybal and son Ryan of Ogden attended a wedding reception in a Reception Center in Salt Lake City for Steven Harrison who claimed Jolyn Hagan as his bride. Steven is the grandson of Newel Udy, former resident of Riverside. Tamara Udy spent the weekend visiting her friend Jan Johnson in Ogden. Mrs. John Allen, Mrs. Marvin Burnett and Mr. and Mrs. DeLos Udy attended funeral services for Howard Sorenson held in Willard Friday. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. DeLos Udy visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry Egbert in Preston. Darrell Udy of Garland, Ray Udy, LaVere Udy and Mrs. Cleo Forsberg took their father Ed Udy to the McKay-De- e hospital in Ogden Sunday evening where he will receive medical care. Thursday Mrs. Ed Udy and Mrs. Cleo Forsberg visited him in the hospital Monday. Mrs. Mary Marble en- tertained at a 'pink and blue shower at her home Wednesday evening for her neice Jana Lynn Able. Twenty guests enjoyed an evening of games followed by tasty refreshements. Jana Lynn received lovely and useful gifts. Down to Salt Lake Mr. and Mrs. Russell Capener and Darcie Gardner ac- companied Mrs. Reed Sorenson and daughter Lesa to Salt Lake City Wednesday where Mrs. Sorenson left by plane for her home in Las Vegas. Lesa remained to spend a few days with her grandparents. They visited Mrs. Capeners sister Mrs. Milton E. Phillips who was celebrating her 87th birthday anniversary. They also attended the Days of 47 Parade. Enroute home they visited Mrs. Gilbert Tingey in Centerville and Mrs. Harry L. Strong in Kaysville. J., who has served as pastor of St. Henrys Catholic Parish in Brigham City since September, 1972. Included in the Golden Jubilee celebration will be a buffet dinner for the priests served at 2 p.m. and a Mass for the priests, friends, and members of the Parish at 5 p.m. in St. Henrys Catholic church. After Mass an open house will be held for all of Father Hessers friends and well-wishe- in the recreation hall of the church. Father Hesser was born June 22, 1903, in Springfield, 111., and moved with his family to California in 1912. Enters Society He attended Santa Clara University for one year, and received his MA at G.onzaga University in philosophy after entry into the Society of Jesus. Entering the Sacred Heart Novitate for the Society of Jesus at Los Gatos, Calif., on Aug. 5, 1924, he was ordained on June 15, 1938, at St, Mary's Cathedral in Santa Clara by Archbishop John J. Mitty, D. D. He pronounced his final vows of priesthood on Feb. 2, 1941. Since his ordination, Father Hesser has served in a variety of church positions including teaching at Loyola High school in Los Angeles, starting and serving as principal of a girls gigh school, Xavier High school, in Phoenix; stationed at St. Francis Xavier; spiritual father at Brophy College Preparatory school in Phoenix; assistant pastor at Our Lady of Sorrows at Santa Barbara; vice rector at Bellarmine, San Jose; vice rector at Heart Sacred Novitate, Los Gatos; assistant, pastor at Christ the King Church in San Diego twice. Father Hesser came to Utah in 1964, first to Brigham City when he was assistant to Father f Schenk, S. J. for one and years. Then he was sent to St. Marys Parish in Ogden and taught school at St. Joseph's High school in Ogden. Father John Hesser ...50 years service First Baptist Vacation Bible School will be held this coming week, August The school will be conducted each morning from 9 a.m. noon. All children ages are welcome to attend. The commencement service will be Friday, August 9, at 7 p.m. Principal for the school will be Mrs. Bruce Conrad. Other regular activites conducted through the week are as follows: Childrens hour, Tuesday night at 7 p.m.; Prayer meeting and Bible study each Wednesday in the Church basement at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday School for all ages Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Church training at 6:30 p.m.; worship services at 11 a.m. Sunday morning and evening at 7:30. 4-- Interim Pastor Serving as Interim Pastor for the church now is Earl Keating, Pastor Emeritus of the Baptist Church of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bro. Keating has been serving since last Sunday of June. The past two weeks-Ju- ly and 9 has been church camp for the children and youth of the churches of Utah. These camps have been held at Camp Utaba north of Ogden. 128 children were present for the childrens camp and 145 were present for youth camp. The next area wide activity for the Youth will be a Youth Rally at the Calvary Baptist Church, Ogden, August Hoff-manto- 15-1- 17. Intermountain Baptist Chapel is making presently preparations for the arrival of the students to attend Intermountain school. Jeff has the School selected of Telecommunicatons as his enlistment choice, and is on delayed enlistment until an opening in the school at Biloxi, Miss., is available.
