While there Mr. and Mrs. Neal Thompson and Mrs. Vernon Thompson attended a session in the Mesa temple. They also visited Mrs. Vesta Hess and Mrs. Ruth Wood, former valley residents. Enjoying Mothers day dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thompson were Mr. and Mrs. Hal Wood and son Randy of Hardware Ranch, Ron Thompson and family of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Tim Thompson and son Jeremy of Garland. Mrs. Ruth Shumway and son Eric accompanied by Jack Shumway of Tremonton attended funeral services for Jacks uncle, William Shumway, 96, held in the Preston ward chapel Saturday where Apostle Ezra Taft Benson was one of the speakers. Saturday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Marriott were Mr. and Mrs. Karl Marriott and family of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Taylor and family of Brigham City and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Taylor of Salt Lake City. The occasion was Kathy Taylors third birthday anniversary. Mrs. Alverta Rogers accompanied by her granddaughter Miss Christine Harris spent the weekend visiting Mrs. Rogers and daughter Bishop and Mrs. Bill Harris and family in Shoshone, Idaho. son-in-la- Had Callers Callers at the home of Mrs. Hanna Davis Wednesday were Dr. Melvin R. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Davis spent Saturday evening in Ogden. Patriarch and Mrs. James White entertained at a family dinner party at their home on Mothers day. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Alan James of Rupert, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. David Archibald of Clarkston, Mrs. Mark Richards and family of Riverside, Mrs. Hattie Hodge of Garland. Visiting Mrs. Hanna Davis on Motherd day were her daughter Ruby Sims and her daughter Donna Marie of Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. George Hales spent the weekend visiting their and daughter Dr. and Mrs. Alton Davis and family in Ogden. They were joined for dinner on Mothers day by Mr. and Mrs. Max Hales and family son-in-la- in Logan. An overnight guest of Mrs. Jennie Gephart Thursday was her daughter-in-laMrs. Norma Gephart of Bountiful. Stay With Grandma Lori and Ryan Rose of Brigham City spent the weekend visiting their grandmother Mrs. Hazel Rose. Sunday they were joined by their parents Mr. and Mrs. Larry Rose for dinner afterwhich the children accompanied their parents back to Brigham City. Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Marriott accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Taylor and family of Brigham City enjoyed homemade ice cream and cookies at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Mason and family in Plymouth. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hales and family of Tremonton. Mr. and Mrs. James Wood entertained at a family dinner students on U honor rolls The winter quarter honor roll at the University of Utah includes 12 students from the Box Elder area. To be named to the honor roll, a student must maintain an average of 3.5 or better in all academic subjects where 4.0 is the equivalent of an A. The students are Jeffrey D. Furlong, Thomas J. Hannum, John R. James, Nathaniel D. Naegle, Robert Northness, John P. Osburn, Arleigh Peterson, W. Terry L. Robinette, George Stibor, Jeffrey D. Taniguchi, Rex W. Turner and Roger K. Warren. from different places. After running to Preston, Idaho three days in a row, I feel like I should take up residency. Then the next day it was to Montpelier, Idaho on my own. I had fun in Montpelier though, since it was a visit to my sister. The next day was Church and Mothers day and we had 20 people other than ourselves to dinner, so it really made quite a week. I guess I really dont need to say how fast the week went by I hardly knew that it came and went. party at their home Sunday honoring Mrs. Woods mother Mrs. Hilda Holmgren of Tremonton who was observing her 95th birthday anniversary. Monday, an open house was held at the Wood home for friends and neighbors to call in to visit Mrs. Holmgren. Spending the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Michael Jen- sen and daughter Marci in Shelly were Mr. and Mrs. M. Rex Jensen. Sunday the group attended a family dinner party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Clark in Inkom, Idaho, where they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jensen and family of Garland. Enjoying Mothers day dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Leedrow Anderson and family were Mr. and Mrs. Steven Anderson and Miss Vergalee Anderson of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Zenna White and Mrs. Hattie Hodge enjoyed the day in Brigham City Tuesday. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. Lee Thompson on Mothers day were Mr. and Mrs. Darrell and family, Mrs. Debra Baird and two children of Grantsville, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson and family of Thatcher, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Jaussi and family of Corinne, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Diderickson and family of Centerville. n La-Ra- ll To Testimonial Mr. and Mrs. David Nye accompanied by Miss Sheri Schwartz of Logan spent the weekend in Bedford, Wyo. They went especially to attend a testimonial honoring Elder Brandt Clark who has just returned from fulfilling an LDS mission in Bolivia. Mrs. Nye and Miss Schwartz sang a duet during the program. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Limb and family of Laketown visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Limb and family Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bishop enjoyed Mothers day dinner with their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Dell Holmgren and family in Bear River City. In the afternoon the Bishops had as their guests Mr. and Mrs. Steven Bishop and daughters Kimberly and Brit-- : any, Mr. and Mrs. James Bishop and sons Kevin, Wayne, Nathan and Danny of Kaysville. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Nielson visited Mrs. Nielsons brother-in-laand sister Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anema in Ogden where they were joined by Eileen Cornwall and son Brandon of Salt Lake City. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Nielson on Mothers day were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Thompson of Roy. Mr. and Mrs. DeVerl Thompson of Clarkston also visited at the Nielson home during the week. A testimonial was held in the Garland First ward Sunday evening honoring Elder Tom Munns who had just returned after fulfilling an LDS mission n 12 Box Elder This sure has been one hectic week! Following the meeting approximately 45 friends and relatives gathered at the Munns home to further visit with Elder Munns. Box Elder man reports to duty A 1973 graduate of Box Elder High school has reported for duty aboard the destroyer USS Turner, homeported in San Diego. He is Richard A. Andrews, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Andrews, Sr., of 458 South Main in Brigham City. A Navy machinists mate third class, Andrews joined the Navy in June 1973. Scout room and told spooky stories. At around 10:30 they got a bunch of visitors that just happened to be a bit more scary than the stories were and it took them a while to get over the shock of having them there. After their little visit they went back upstairs, danced and listened to records that the girls had brought. During the whole night they had all sorts of snacks and good things to eat, so they never felt hungry. The last group got to bed at about 10 minutes after 2. The next morning they got up and had French toast and other things for breakfast. Then they were joined by some of the girls that couldnt make the night before and they had a first-ai- d clinic. They were also helped by Brother Dwight Anderson and C.A. Kathy Hall during the night. They all had a very special time, one that Im sure they wont forget in a while! Mothers Day Dinner Attending the surprise dinner for two special mothers were: the two mothers, Bessie Christensen and Merle Meadows, Chester Christensen, Bob and Linda Christensen and children Bryan, Jacki, Kirk, and Jill, Roger and Bette Dallin and sons Jeff and Chris, Karen and Craig Hansen and children Kyle and Stacie, Kent Christensen and Wendy Ammons and Hilda Meadows. We had a pot luck dinner for all those who came to celebrate Mothers day with us. The rest of the afternoon was spent visiting and just enjoying each others company. Merle and Hilda were here Saturday also. They traveled with me to Montpelier and were our overnight guests, attending church with us the next day. They returned home on Sunday afternoon. RECEIVING SILVER AWARD for the best downtown window display for Community Art Week is Mildred Anderson of Helen Royer's accepting engraved silver tray from Phyllis director. Those elected were Joyce Cusick, president; Ann Holmgren, vice president; Judy Nelson, secretary; JoAnn Oyler, treasurer; and Mitzi Nessler, historian. They also decided taht night that the PTA Gospel choir to sing May 1 5 at Heritage Girls Outing There was an overnight outing held at the cultural hall in the church this past week. The girls, from Beehive age to Laurel age, met at the church house at 6:30 p.m. to hold their camp-ou- t. They were scheduled to attend this at the girls home in the canyon but it canceled out because of repairs going on up there. They played volleyball and other games for part of the night until 15 minutes to 10 when they went downstairs to the Helen Royers ladies store in Brigham City received the silver award of Community Art week for the best downtown window display of the work of local artists, it was announced this week by Delone Glover of the museum-galler- y Mildred Anderson, a store employee who prepared the window, accepted the engraved silver tray that will be displayed within the store. Phyllis Owen, director of the museum gallery made the presentation. The winning window display featured oil paintings by Elizabeth Madsen, which were complimented by a large vase of pussywillows and a mannequin in an appropriate gown. Mrs. Rupert Blackham was a recent recipient of a beautiful plaque awarded her by the Utah State university Alumni association. It was given for her service on the alumni council for three years, her service on the Executive Alumni council for two years and as secretary of the Executive Alumni council for one year.
