Im sure you all have your gardens planted by now and are awaiting the first signs of growth. The Cooks, however, are a little slow. We did finally get around to getting the seeds. But the ground was so dry it soaked up water like a sponge. Even now Im not sure there is enough moisture there to give the plants a good start. Well just have to wait and see. Stuart Hunsaker, a former resident of Honeyville, has recently become a partner in a CPA firm in Anchorage, Alaska. ACCORDED Fielding Flashes Grover family moves to Kansas on special Hill AFB assignment by Flo Munson Mr. and Mrs. Claine Grover left Monday for Wichita, Kans. where they will spend the next four months on a special assignment from Hill AFB. Mr. and Mrs. Grover have spent the past two weeks at their home in Fielding after being in Tucson since January on other special assignments from Hill AFB. The small son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jensen was blessed by his father in sacrament meeting Sunday and given the name of Cameron Jensen. A dinner party followed at the Jensen home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. C.R'. Brough of East Mr. and Mrs. David Earl and daughter Jenny of Beaver Dam, Mrs. Gordon Jensen and daughters Jane and Pam of Brigham City, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Earl and son Brett, Mr. and Mrs. DeVerl Anger and family and Mrs. Donetta Petersen of Fielding. Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Hansen and son Ryan spent last Monday and Tuesday in Mt. Pleasant visiting Mrs. Hansens parents Mr. and Mrs. Perry McArthur. A dinner party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Hess Sunday especially for their son Todd who was celebrating his eighth birthday. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. NorVel Hess of Clinton, Mrs. Pearl Hoopes of Benson Ward and Mrs. Melba Hess. Dinner guests of Mrs. Alene Sutherland Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Kent Sutherland and son Greg of Ogden. Recovering Mrs. Helen Jensen is reported to be feeling a little better, recovering from her recent illness. Visiting with her during the past two weeks were Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Jensen, Mrs. Lois Smith, Mrs. Lorilyn Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Allen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Cowderick and two children of Ogden. Overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Valdez and family in Salt Lake City during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Rosel Zun-de- l. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Allen Chournos and family in Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Nish Zundel and family in Bountiful. Spending the weekend visiting President and Mrs. Donald Petersen and family was Miss Cindy Petersen of Logan. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Marble of Collinston was blessed by her father in sacrament meeting in Beaver Dam Ward Sunday and given the name of Tiffany Marble. A dinner party followed the meeting at the Marble home. Browns Announce Birth Randy and Tricia Adams Brown announce the arrival of their first child, a boy born in the Tremonton hospital April 22. He will be named Bradley R. Brown. Mrs. Janet Adams visited her sister Mrs. Wilbur Hedrick in Perry Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Mason spent Friday fishing at Foster Dam. Family Moves Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith have been assisting their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Steven Johns and daughter Monica Rae in moving to Lay-to- n where they will make their home. President Donald Petersen and Eldon Petersen were in Burley on business Saturday. Sunday visitors at the home of Mrs. Voylet Grover were Mr. and Mrs. R. Dean Grover of Salt Lake City. They all enjoyed dinner at a downtown restaurant in Logan. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Welling and President and Mrs. Donald Petersen were among those who attended a Box Elder county teachers association banquet held in the Walnut Room at Utah State university in Logan Friday evening. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hunsaker of Honeyville. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Stone have just returned from an business-pleasur- e eight-da- y trip to Philadelphia, Pa., where they attended a convention for the American Welders society. While in that city, the couple visited Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross home, and Christs Church where they sat in the pew which seated George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Betsy Ross. They also view the famous Liberty Bell and were allowed to place their hands upon it. They then traveled to Rochester, N.Y. where they toured the Joseph Smith home and the Sacred Grove. Other Sights Other sights of interest included Niagra Falls, Ontario, Canada and the site where Benjamin Franklin is buried. They also spent an afternoon in New Jersey before flying back home. Monday the students of Honeyville Elementary school were privileged to be entertained by Ballet West who presented Ballet for Children. The school has recently completed a poetry contest. Entries were received from many of the students. The hopeful poets are now awaiting the decisions of the judges as to the best from each class. At the PTA meeting held last week new officers for the coming school year were elected. Those chosen were Mike Perry, president; Sally May, vice president; and Adele Burton, secretary. Teacher Representative for the school will be John Parkinson. Winners of last weeks talent contest preformed for the parents at the meeting. Bill Hughes and son Clayne of Mesa, Ariz. were recent visitors to Honeyville. Hughes brought home his mother, Mrs. Estelle Hughes, who has been visiting with her sons family in Mesa for the winter. The Kindergarten, first and second grades at the school went on a field trip to the Jensen Historical Farm in Logan. While there, the children were allowed to sit on the old farm machinery and were given rides in an old horse-draw- n wagon. The classes then went to Willow park where they enjoyed eating lunch. The third and fourth grades traveled to Salt Lake, May 4, for a field trip to Hogle Zoo. Congratulations go out to Stephanie Thorsted, Abe Bessinger and Hope Owens who were baptized last Saturday. Congratulations also go to Philip Beckstead who graduated from primary and was ordained a deacon. The people of Honeyville would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Mrs. ReNae Hortin at the death of her father, Earl M. Firth. We would also like to extend wishes to Mrs. Francis Hunsaker who is ill at this time. Visiting this past weekend with E. Emery Wight was his grandson, Mark Wight who is attending school at Ricks college. The younger Wight rode his motorcycle down from Rex-burIdaho and stayed until Sunday. The Widows party for the month of April was held at the home of Sylvia Hunsaker. The women got together for supper and spent the evening visiting. get-we- ll NARFE calls Friday meeting The monthly meeting of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Brigham City Community center. Art Redding, Box Elder county sheriff, will be the guest speaker at the meeting. All members and guests are invited to attend. JC PENNEY Kathleen . . . Kathleen Payne Glauser, daughter of Elva Payne, 135 East 200 South, Brigham City, was chosen Talent of the Year at Utah State university in the 20th annual Robins awards night ceremonies April 30. Mrs. Glauser has been the lead choreographer for the Sounds of Zion, the president of Orchesis, and has worked with the USU Childrens Dance Concert. The Robins awards are given yearly to those students, faculty and alumni who make significant contributions to the university. This was their closing party for the end of the bowling season. Mr. and Mrs. Rollin (Helen) Thomas and son Chris of Soda Springs visited at the home of Mrs. Thomass parents Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Mason Sunday. Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Mason accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hansen of Brigham City enjoyed dinner at the Golden Spike Cafe in The occasion was Mrs. Hansens birthday anniversary. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Afton Adams Sunday were Mrs. Zelda Adams of Yuba City, Calif., and Miss Ardes Adams of Tremonton. Mrs. Zelda Adams also visited Mrs. Flo Munson. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Coombs, Mrs. Judy Udy and son Brett along with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce King of Garland attended the intercollegiate rodeo in Pocatello Friday and Saturday. Cindy Coombs placed first in break-awaroping, first in goat tying and was named cowgirl. Cindy is a student at Utah State university in Logan. The USU girls again won the team trophy. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Burton spent the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jack Orton and family and Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Peterson and family in Salt Lake City. Little Rebecca Orton was baptized while her grandparents were there.
