Show 6 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Thursday, August 1, 1974 events in the affairs of men do not turn out at all as originally planned. Utah Willard Area Report Morning accident awakens Willard By M.H. Glenn Sunday July 28, seemed to be an unusual day for a few folks about 2:30 in the morning. A motorist driving South lost control of his car and it landed upside down, headed north on the east side of the highway east of Glenns Surplus store. Apparently the driver was unhurt and crawled out on his own steam, not sure of himself what had happened. About that same hour someone in North Ogden noticed a new stream going past his house and called Glen Kap, an employee of the canal company to shut off the canal going past his house. It seems that an abandoned headgate that had been plugged came unplugged, allowing five or six second feet of water, to go down through some new homes via an old abandoned ditch. The canal was shut off for about six or seven hours during the time repairs were being made on the canal. During the current dry and hot weather, it is noticeable when the local water surplus is cut off from Change of Events Some things of considerable historic significance and importance were results of quite different objectives than some of the parties involved planned s it them to be. seems that time and history marches on sometimes better than would have been the case if some individuals had realized their dreams and expectations, this is especially true in attempts. Recently I was involved in a idea that sort of didnt turn out as planned but the result was not really all that bad. It seems that someone told me the University of Utah medical center was buying live rattlesnakes for 25.00 each so I hoped to secure some easy cash. Finally one day a small rattlesnake was trapped on some trash in the canal so I caught it for the cause. The first time there was an occasion to go to Salt Lake was on July 24 when by brother came down from Oregon and wanted to see his girl griend and attend the rodeo so we took the snake along. After getting to Salt Lake, the Medical Center that might have been interested in snakes for serum was closed for the holiday so we decided to see it the Hogle Zoo would like a small addition. They accepted the gift but rather than getting paid as originally planned it cost me $3 for admission to the zoo for the three of us, however we took a quick tour of the zoo and enjoyed it all the same so it was not that bad a deal. Never-the-les- North Ogden to Brigham City even for a few hours. Off to Camp The young ladies from both Willard Wards left in the wee hours Monday to attend their annual summer camp at Camp Bartlett near Preston, Idaho. The planned departure time for the Willard second ward was 4 a.m. while the Willard ward 6 girls planned to leave at a.m., both going to the same place, for the same cause. Some of the girls anticipated going swimming in Bear Lake before coming home to Willard. The new Willard Relief has presidency Society scheduled their next general often to seek. The Verden Chambers and Cliff Woodland families spent a few days vacation in the Willard Peak area, disclaiming the notion that it is necessary to go far from home to enjoy our vacations. Recently someone asked my opinion of the current political scene within the context of such events as Watergate and other political distasteful happenings. It was reported that it was not so much a problem with the principle of politics as it is a of problem some persons abusing or misusing offices of public trust partly because some of us seem to expect special attention from elected officials.
