Show LAST RITES HELD FOR DAN GROVES Funeral services honoring Daniel David Groves, 63, of 220 4th East, Copperton, Bingham Canyon, were held Wednesday morning at I I a.m. in St. Paul's Methodist Church, Copperton, with Rev. Robert Turner, Turn-er, pastor of the church, officiating, assisted by Miss Ada Duhigg. Mr. Groves ded unexpectedly Sunday morning after being stricken strick-en with a heart attack suffered shortly after he and his wife, traveling travel-ing west bound in their car, wit- neseed and stopped at a head-on two-car collision on U.S. Highway 40-50, 36 miles west of Grantsville that claimed two lives and injured two others. His wife hailed an ambulance am-bulance which had been called to the scene and he was taken to Tooele Too-ele Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Mr. Groves was born November 30, 1897, at Brockway, Pa., a son of Homer and Elizabeth Dick Groves. Grov-es. He was married to Agnes Buff-ington Buff-ington on November 29, 1921, at Buffalo, N. Y. A Utah resident since 1928, he was employed at Kenne-cott's Kenne-cott's mine at Bingham as a repair gang foreman. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving him are his widow; two sons and a daughter, Robert G. Groves and Mrs. Richard (Jeanette) Walters, of Copperton; and William K. Groves, Midvale; 10 grandchildren, grandchild-ren, and a sister, Mrs. Christine Wood, Erie, Pa. Prelude and postlude organ music mu-sic for the service was played by Mrs. Frances Morley. Services also included three vocal selections "Sweet Hour of Prayer", "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" sung by Ladies of the Eastern Star Mrs. Morley, Mrs. Lola Camp, Mrs. Melba Fike and Mrs. Myrtle Thomas, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Betty Stringham; opening remarks, Miss Duhigg and lesson from New Testament read by Rev. Turner. He also gave the message followed by a prayer and closed the service with the benediction. The casket was covered with an American flag during services which was presented to Mrs. Groves after services. Pallbearers were Francis L. Sax, Thoma Sadler, George James, Bob Heckler, LaVell Timothy and Les Sumnicht. Interment was in Murray City Cemetery with service at graveside conducted by Rev. Turner and the American Legion. |
