Show Arrangements For Birthday Ball Now Underway tUNDS RAISED BY CIVIC CENTER DANCE JAN. 30 FOR CHARITY Advertisement of the President's Birthday ball to be held in the Civic Center January 30 was begun this week with the distribution of posters post-ers and other advertising matter. Judge S. J. Kenner, in charge of general arrangements, and his committee com-mittee members have announced that all preliminary plans have been completed. An excellent orchestra will be obtained, according to Joe Scussel, in charge of the music. E. J. Householder is, in charge of hall reservations, Vivian Pano and Francis Fran-cis Quinn, tickets, and Earl James is treasurer. For the past three years an annual an-nual drive for funds to finance treatment of Infantile Paralysis victims, vic-tims, estimated at 10,000 cases a year, has received impetus from interest given the cause by the sup- port of President Roosevelt. This annual charity is one of concrete con-crete worth, and $1,000,000 has been raised for national distribution the past three years to combat the dread disease. Seventy per cent of the money , raised will be retained in this com- munity to be used for local cases or at the nearest hospital or research re-search center for those needing treatment Thirty per cent of the money ' raised will go to the President and , turned over by him to the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation. Grants are made each year to research in-stitutions in-stitutions which are specializing In work to bring Infantile Paralysis j under control. This movement deserves the sup- j port of everyone.
