Show Leading Mining Engineers Will Attend Convention Representatives of three distinguished distin-guished mining organizations will meet In 8alt Lake, Aug. 22 for a two days' session. The organizations are the American Ameri-can Mining congress, American Institute In-stitute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and American Silver Producers' Pro-ducers' association. Most of the sessions will be joint meetings presided over by local men, Including Imer Pett, of the Bingham Mine company and L. 8. Cates, general gen-eral manager of the Utah Copper company. One of the most Important features of the convention will be the Silver Producers' meetings, at which ways and means will be discussed to bet-tei bet-tei Improve the silver market. This meeting promises to attract some of the largest silver producers in the United States. Other questions to be taken up at the conference will be better stabilization stabil-ization of the mining Industry and workmen's accident compensation. The meetings of the Institute will he held August 23 and 24, while on August 25 the delegates will be entertained en-tertained by the Utah reception committee, com-mittee, comprising representatives of the three associations, on tours to, mining and smelting plants In the vicinity of Salt Lake. The meetings meet-ings of all f ' these organizations will be featured by the election of new officers. Supplementing the convention seasons, sea-sons, an exhibit of mining products will be made under the direction of the Salt Lake station of the bureau of mines and the University of Uta,h. D. A. Lyon, superintendent of the station and formerly chief metallurgist metallurg-ist of the bureau at Washington, Js taking an active part In providing this exhibit and In developing the program for the meetings of the Institute.
