Coach Brent Hancock of Clearfield stated before his teams drubbing by the Lakers, No one is going to go undefeated in this league and if anyone possibly will, its got to be the Lakers. Clearfield, which should be one of the better teams in league play this season, saw hardly any daylight as the Lakers bombed them in the Region One opener 26-- 3. Ellis and Company made believers out of a lot of Marvin face peep fleams mafldhi-Qji- ps DimfteFesftaiTDg defeated them by three points in people in that contest. The big clash this week should be the contest against Bonneville and Layton which will be played in Layton and begins at 4 p.m. It will be Marvin Ellis putting on his show against Laytons talented back, Dave Burke. Both Ellis and Burke were unanimous choices last season as two of the finest backs in Region One and the entire state for that matter. Layton finally edged out the Lakers last season and eventually claimed stake to the state title. Bonneville entered the state playoffs in second place and left the state tourney when Granger the semi-finalCoach Tom Budge has proved he is one of the finest high school football coaches in the state while building a consistent winner and molding together a coaching staff that knows their assignments and carries them out faithfully. Budge would like nothing more than to defeat Layton and be one step closer to that coveted Region One champion position. Gary Hansen of Layton is no pushover and neither is his team. s. Layton hasnt sparkled like everything figured they would in but they are pre-seaso- n, 1UTAH awesome and could be a strong contender for the title if they can get past the Lakers on Friday.
