The big lie - if there is one - is how much time Judge Rich put in for his $10,000 salary. That is the s! This w riter worked hard to set a minimum base pay for local justices, back before the 55 mph speed limit made the Beaver Precinct a lucrative one. Even then, an Attorney General's opinion was that justices should be salaried, not paid by the case. It was only after these offices were provided, clerical help hired by the county, and Rich put on salary, thru it became evident that p;th Was spending little time in the office, as justice. The issue then was not one of whether clerical help is needed in the Beavet Precinct, but rather how much, and just how much lime Judge Rich was giving to the $10,000 per year job. The election will be over by the time tlii.s is printed, and since both candidates have campaigned to be full time working judges, we believe the issue will resolve itself, satisfactorily to everyone.
