Show IRRIGATION PROJECT DEAD- JjOCK MAY BE SETTLED. The Sevier Land & Water company has issued a. statement concerning' its dealings with the directors and engineers of the Pahvant irrigation district. There are approximately 25,000 acres of land in the district located in Millard county below Fillmore. With proper irrigation, it is asserted, this can be developed into Immense- j ly productive farms. While apparently a deadlock has developed between directors and the company, arlbtration, it is stated by Geo. F. McGonagle, state engineer, may be effected, and the irrigation project quickly developed as planned. plan-ned. The attempts to arrive at an agree-: ment are related at length. The j company claims that recently It ' agreed to make all the changes asked ask-ed by the directors on condition that they call an election of the land owners own-ers for the purpose of ratifying o rejecting the contract. Then the directors sought another concession, It is claimed, this being that the company make the district a present of Its canal rights, giving It the right to purchase water from other persons and carry it through the canal free. Upon this proposal there was another an-other deadlock. It is understood that anothpr big land and water company Is negotiating for the water of the Sevier Rlvpr Land & Water company, and that unless the Irri gation district directors close contracts, con-tracts, the water needed by the land owners will not be available. |
