Show To Drive Dull Care Away What's Doing in the Local Social Circles After helping celebrate the second anniversary ofjthe marriage of their daughter, Mrs. Joe Tribole, Wednesday Wednes-day evening, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Cottrell were in turn, taken possession of by about forty-live of their friends, who helped that estimable couple to observe their "silver" anni versary iu royal style. It all began at a dinuer on the same evening, at the Tribole residence, at which Mr. ana Mrs. Tribole entertained the Cottrells in honor of their second anniversary. After dinner, Arthur Wood came along iu an auto and thoughtfully iuvited Mr. and Mrs. Cottrell to go out for a spin, which they did. On their return, they found their home in possession of a large party of their friends, who forthwith proceeded to congratulate the chief actors and to get under way a fine program of music, recitation, oratory, etc., capping it all with the presentation to host and hostess, of several sets of fine silver spoons, forks, etc., the presentation speech being de- ivered y Rev. Allison in an unusually appropriate and happy manner. Green auQ white color decorations, a beautifully beauti-fully lighted lawn and a throng ol Imppy people made up a charming scene. A large silver bell depended from the center of the room and flowers were in abundance V ocal selections by Miss Waddiugam, Mrs. Kenuaby, Mrs. Tribole, Delia Cottrell, Mr. and Mrs. Cottrell, Mr. Waddingham, and reci tations by Mr. Burns and Mrs. Cottrell made up a very enjoyable program. On Thursday Mrs. W. H. Elmer and Mfss Nina Thiessen enter, ained the B. B. Club at the home of the former, " E00 " being the pastime. Prizes were captured by Mrs. Nichols and Mrs. Lewis, and the booby by Mrs. P. W. Duffin and Miss Ruth Thiessen. Refreshments were sprved. Flowers of the season were the decorations. deco-rations. A delightful affair was that given by Mrs. Ward and Miss Helen Palmer on Monday at their home on Stoddard avenue. The guests were entertained at "500." The rooms were decorated with sweet peas and peonies. A toothsome tooth-some two course luncheon was served. j Prizes were won by Mrs. Berkhimer I and Mrs. Niehols. j One of the most delightful O. E. S. Club parties was that given by Mrs. George Jefferson and Mrs. R. C. Lemon at the home of Mrs. Jefferson on upper Main Street. The rooms were decorated in the seasons flowers and ferns. The usual pastime of '500'' was enjoyed by all present. Mrs. Bartell won first prize and Mrs. Elmer consolation. The club will be j at Mrs. Nichols' next t.me, who wili ! be assisted by Miss Nina Thiessen. |
