Show MFD : , - K THE BPW CLUB met Mon day evening at the home of Mrs. Vena Wilson. After the regular business meeting, the group engaged en-gaged in a panel discussion on Hungary. Mrs. Wilson opened wth "A History of Hungary", followed by "The Reason for Vera Bond. Revolt", ably discussed ' Mrs. Other topics were: "Freedom Fighters", by Mrs. Lillian Anderson; An-derson; "The Escape of the Refugees", Ref-ugees", and "The Long Way to Freedom", by Mrs. Pat Rimpau; "The Status of Women in Hungary", Hun-gary", by Mrs. Beatrice Oakley, and the discussion was closed with a talk by Mrs. Naomi Hughes on "Conditions in Hungary Hun-gary as They Are Today". President Hazel Hillman, and Mmes. Beatrice Axley, Clerynth Larson, Emma Smith, Lillian Anderson, Vivian Rollins, Patricia Pat-ricia Rimpau, Vera Bond, Naomi Na-omi Hughes, Vena Wilson and Sophronia Hawley. A district BPW meeting will be held in Panguitch, Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. David Griffiths are in San Francisco visiting Mr. and Mrs. Roger Aagard. BISHOP DWAINE G. HUNT of the Salt Lake Diocese made his official visit to St. Bridgets Church March 30 and 31. A luncheon was given Saturday by the Rosarians at the Green Horn Cafe honoring His Excel-lency, Excel-lency, Father Valine, Sister Edwards Ed-wards and Sister Lewis Marie. Other members and their husbands hus-bands attending the luncheon were; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert E. McGinn, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Brinkman, Mr. and Mrs. John Hanley, Mrs. Garth Banks, Mrs. S. E. Pitchforth, Mrs. Laura Jimerson and Mrs. O. R. Smith. Bishop Hunt was well pleased with the growth o'f the parish and commended Father Valine on his fine work here. THE ROSARIANS met April 1 at the home of Mrs. Gilbert E. McGinn for their regular monthly business meeting, with Mrs. A. A. Brinkman, president, conducting the meeting. Election of officers was held, with Mrs. Brinkman being reelected re-elected president and Mrs. Garth Banks re-elected treasurer. Mrs. Melvin Browskoski was named vice president and Mrs. Robert j Bloome Jr., secretary. Mrs. McGinn was appointed chairman of Catholic Charities for the year. Other committee chairmen will be appointed at a later, date. Lenten refreshments were served by the hostess. MRS. IOLA CARTER enter tained her 500 club April 1. Prizes Priz-es were won by Mrs. Magdalena White, Mrs. Essie Thompson, and Mrs. Sofie Johnson. Others present were Mrs. Lucile Raines, Mrs. Lavern Bunker, Mrs. Eva Sedgwick and Mrs. Verneta Mc-Knight. Mc-Knight. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostess. . Mr. and Mrs. Dick Jones returned re-turned from a very pleasant two weeks trip to Calif, visiting with the following friends and relatives: In Oakland they were at the home "of Mrs. Maggie England. In San Francisco they called on Mr. and Mrs. Dick Valentine. The couple were guests of Mr .and Mrs. H. H. Harriman in Bishop, and an over night stay in Reno, Nev. was enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Grim-shaw, Grim-shaw, newlyweds, are making their home in Milford. Mrs. Grimshaw has enrolled at the Milford High School and will 1 finish her Senior year here. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Rowley, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Smith of Beaver, and Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Wen-dell Keetch were in Las Vegas a few days this week. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H. Gale and sons, Ricky, Kevin and Stevie, of Cedar City, were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Theman Walker. The Milford High School Seniors Sen-iors presented their play in Minersville Wednesday evening. Visiting at the home of Mr. Mrs. Leland Beard is the sister of Mrs. Beard, Mrs. Vermeil Christopherson of Fillmore. HOSTESS for the Lady Lions last Wednesday evening at St. Bridget's recreation hall were Mrs. Enid Johnson and Mrs. Patricia Williams. A Mexican style chicken dinner was served to the members, after which President Ferl Bown conducted conduct-ed the business meeting. A nominating nom-inating committee was selected by the president, and new officers of-ficers will be elected at the April meeting. AFTER THE JUNIOR PROM last Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Roy Young entertained the Juniorsi, their partners, members mem-bers of the orchestra, and Mr. and Mrs. G. E. McGinn, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Horton and Mr. and Mrs. John Grimshaw. A turkey luncheon with all : the trimmings was prepared and served by Mrs. Young. MRS. VERGE GOODWIN had as her guests last Wednesday Wednes-day evening members of her pinochle club. Playing cards were Mrs. Gwen Ogden, Mrs. Lela Rowley, Mrs. Phyllis I Keetch, Mrs. Margaret Mahon-1 Mahon-1 ey, Mrs. Lola Banks, Mrs. Maudell Crane, Mrs. Fern Bur-budge Bur-budge and Mrs. Rae Anderson. Among some of the Junior Prom out of town guests, were Mr. and ' Mrs. Glen Casterline of Salt Lake City; Jimmie Williams Wil-liams of Minersville.; David Uffens of Salt Lake City, guest of Renee Norton; Mary Jiminez Leland Thompson of Salt Lake City; Sheila and Julie Ann Hardy, teen-age nieces of Mrs. D. A. Fowles, of Salt Lake, who remained in Milford over the week end; Jennie Sue Smith, of Cedar City, Joan Merry-weather, Merry-weather, student at the LDS Business School in Salt Lake; ladies from Fillmore, Delta, Hinkley and Beaveri, whose husbands were attending the Regional Lions Presidents and Secretaries banquet at the Catholic Cath-olic recreation hall, and Joyce Workman of Salt Lake. Mrs. Buleah Wunderlich was in Las Vegas last week visiting a brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Eyre. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cahoon ofSalt Lake City, were guests of Mrs. Cahoon's- brother and family,' Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wunderlich. Wun-derlich. O Mrs. Steve Inman will spend two weeks with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and JVIrs. Roger Aagard, in San Francisco. Mr. Inman expects to join his wife at the end of the two weeks and together they will return to Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mash and two children of Salt Lake City were in Milford recently. The couple were enroute to Las Vegas for a pleasure trip, leaving leav-ing their two children in Milford Mil-ford with grandma and grandpa Kohler. . , , Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd Kohler will spend a few days in Salt Lake this week. Mrs. Lula Smith has returned from a two months trip to Falls River, Wash., where she visited a sister. |
