Show Beaver County Ladies Attend Leader School The week of Oct. 10-14 five women from Beaver County attended at-tended the Leadership School for Women in Logan, sponsored by the Utah State University Extension Exten-sion services. Those going were Thora Beeson, Pauline Wood-house, Wood-house, and Joyce Gale, Beaver; Melba Baker, Minersville, and Sofia Ann Gardner, Beaver Co. Home Demonstration Agent. The theme of the school was "Accent on Youth." A panel of noted men and women in this field gave interesting potentials. The subject was ideas on "Helping "Help-ing Youth Develop Their Potentials." Poten-tials." The subject was then discussed dis-cussed by the women in workshop work-shop groups. The following morning Dr. Lowell L. Bennion gave a talk on "Teen Age Marriages What to Do About Them." This also was followed by workshop discussion dis-cussion groups. Sectional meetings each afternoon after-noon were held with each woman wom-an attending different subject fields. These were: Home Management, Man-agement, which included "Shoppers "Shop-pers Guide to Buying Kitchen Utensils" and "New Fabrics in Home Furnishings." "Foods and Nutrition," "Foods and Youth," and "Your Dollar's Worth in Foods," were discussed. Clothing, Civil Defense and Home Nursing also were thoroughly thor-oughly discussed and demonstrated. demonstrat-ed. To finish the school, a dinner was served for all, at which Col. Dana F. Peck spoke on "Our Citizenship Cit-izenship Responsibilities." He pointed out the need for us to know our Constitutional rights, live them, and teach others to love and appreciate them. Each leader attending received a certificate for completion, awarded by President Darryl Chase of the University. |
