Show Nora T. Cross Passes Away After Lengthy Illness " Funeral srevices for Mrs. Nora Ann Tarbutton Cross, 84, who died Friday, Nov. 29, in the Beaver County Hospital of causes incident to age, were conducted Monday afternoon in the Milford Methodist Church, under direction ct Rev. Mrs. Lillian INelson. Prelude and postlude music were played by Mrs. Milton Pool, and other musical numbers num-bers were by the Methodist Ladies' Chorus, Mrs. Lois Moore, Mrs. Hannah Bealer, Mrs. Charlotte Wise and Mrs. Lula Clay. Rev. Nelson spoke from the 23rd Psalm, and "Crossing of the Bar" by Tenneson, a favorite favor-ite poem of Mrs. Cross, was read by Mrs. Nelson. Pallbearers were Lamar Out-zen, Out-zen, Dell Helyoak, Ray Kizer, Alfred Bealer, and Henry C. Garfield. Mrs. -Cross was born Aug. 5, 1873, in Troup, Texas, to James Henry and Mary Hester Tarbutton. Tar-button. She married Paschel Cross at Troup in 1892. He died in 1916. Mrs. Cross's early life was spent in East Texas and in 1924 she moved to Milford with her son Vernon. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Cross was mentally alert, and had a keen sense of humor, and a great . love of children. She was interested in politics, and voted in the city election in November. Surviving are a daughter and two sons, Mrs. O. R. (Ethel) Smith and Vernon M. Burns of Milford, and Albert B. Cross of New York; 'four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Clara Radford of Tyler, Texas. Out of town relatives attending attend-ing the services included her son Albert, of New York; two grandsons, John W. Smith of Cedar City and Albert B. Smith of Steubenville, Ohio; Mrs. Earl Stonehocker of Salt Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Morgan and daughter O'Rena of Pleasant Grove, and Mrs. Claude Steele of Goshen. Burial was in the Milford City Cemetery. |
