Show Annual Deer Hunting Rites Occupy Minds of Sportsmen At least 130,000 sporstmen are expected to be afield for the Saturday. October 20, opening day of Utah's general deer sea son. The department of fish and game said today that all signs and field information indicate that the harvest and hunter success suc-cess will be comparable to a year ago when 112000 animals were bagged with three of four hunters hunt-ers getting a deer. With the exception of four hunting units, the general season sea-son over the whole state continues contin-ues for eleven days through October Oct-ober 30. with extended weekend hunting and longer seasons set for many areas. One deer of either sex is legal game everywhere every-where on the regular license. A shorter season of seven days was set by the Utah Board of Big Game Control for the lleas- ton, Stansbury, Vernon, and Tin-tic Tin-tic hunting units. Dates for these areas are October 29 through October 2G. In view of the continuing dry season the dcr ''"lent again urged all who go afield to use every precaution in preventing forest and range fires. Listed also was the reminder that it Is the obligation of the hunter to know the regulations covering the deer hunt and other easons. |
