Show THE Obituary. William Frederick Rigby Sr. was barn at Saddles worth, York - shire, England, on January 29th, f 1833. InJuly, 1848, he moved to r Stockport, Cheshire. While residing there he began to investigate the doctrines taught by the Latter-DSaints; and being converted, ay lie was baptized on Sept. 8th, 1848, by Elder Samuel Charlton, and on the following day was confirmed by ...Eldcr.LRl3ta rd Rosbron . lie ordained a deacon on Dec. 5th, 1849, by James Bradshaw; ordain ed a Priest June 5tb, 1851j by ' . George Day. In August, 1352, he married , Miss Mary Clarke. In February, 1853rh. was ordained an Elder by .Perigrine Sessions, and on the following April Brother Rigby and wife bid goodby to their native ny of Saints land, a tul wltlnri-omptook passage in the ship Canutus and started on their journey to Zion. Many were the trials and hardships they had to endure before they reached their destination. Brother Rigby was one of the ten volunteers-wh- o were -- sent to Salt Lake City ahead of the company with letters- to President Young requesting aid, as their teams were ,exhaused, ns was also their supplies. They arrived at President Youngs office? on Oct. 5th, having walked 179 miles in five days. Mr. Itigbv remained nSalt Lake eity until the spring of 1855. While residing in Salt , Lake he was .ordained a Seventy by Zera Pulsipher. Brother Rigby next resided in Belli for several years, while, where hewith the rest of the settlers, passed through air the trials to which the jbarly inhabitants were subject.
