Show Page B8 Thursday, February 1 1, 1 988 Park Record Wasatch Kahunas spiking the enemy by RANDY HANSKAT Record staff writer In that land of spiking bliss where all that is important is a good set, coupled with a brutal spike, two teams continue to impress the critics. "Oh, I loved the action. I thought those Brewmeisters were well-choreographed. well-choreographed. Quite impressive. Definitely two thumbs up. " "I don't know, Gene. Those Scuz Balls got me going. They really know how to spike that ball." Yes, you've gotta agree with the critics it looks as if two teams are the class of the recreational volleyball league, which plays Wednesday nights at the Treasure Mountain Middle School. The two remain re-main atop the league after three weeks of spiking madness . The Scuz Balls opened up Wednesday, Wednes-day, Feb. 3 with 3-0 pounding of the P.C. Pounders. It was rumored that the Pounders, who had forfeited their first six games due to lack of interest, were trying to recruit ringers before game time. The ploy didn't work, however, as even Mr. Volleyball couldn't have saved this sinking ship this night. Then came Team Brew, alias the Wasatch Brewers, alias the Big Kahuna II. The Brew Crew put the P.C. Ski School in detention with a 3-0 drubbing. Then, those witty guys and gals from Sharp Construction poked the Green Machine, which is not so mean, 3-0. Finally, Spasmatics, split things with Brennan & Shultz Painting 2-1. Atop the league is Wasatch at 8-1. Then comes the Scuz Balls at 7-2. The Painters, Spasmatics, and Sharpies Shar-pies all follow at 5-4. The Greenies are 4-5. At the bottom of the barrel are the Ski School at 2-7 and the Pounders at 0-9, a truly sorry mark. Feb. 17 action will pit the Brewers against the Painters, and the Ski School against the Sharpies, all at 6:30 p.m. Then at 7:30 will be the Spasmatics and the Pounders, and the Greenies and the Scuz Balls. -ZM', x . ; i , I k - 1 - .' . ,r. . ......
