Show Elmer D. Major Elmer Doyle Major, 82, of 977 N. Angel Street, Layton, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1988 at Humana Huma-na Hospital Davis North in Layton of causes incident to age. He was born June 18, 1905, in Layton, a son of Albert A. and Martha C. Simmons Major. He married Leona E. Bugger Aug. 7, 1940 in the Logan LDS i Temple. He had been a prominent farmer and cattleman in Layton for 60 years. He was a life-long resident of Layton, attended public schools in Layton and graduated from Davis High School. He was a member of the Layton 26th LDS Ward. He had served on the North Davis Stake High Council Coun-cil for 18 years. He had also served as Stake Sunday School president. He was past-president of the Layton Kiwanis Club and served on the Davis County Weed Control Board for several years. He had also been president of the Davis Baseball League and had been director for the Davis County Canning Can-ning Crops Crowers Association. Surviving are his widow of Layton, one brother and one sister, Lewis R. Major and Velma M. Hayes, both of Layton. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Funeral directors, Lindquist's Layton Mortuary. Bishop Curtis W. Youngman officiated at funeral services Saturday, Satur-day, Jan. 9. Family prayer was offered by Lewis R. Dedication of the grave was by D. William Day with interment in the Kaysville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard B. Major, Ma-jor, Arthur K. Thomassen, Dennis M. Hayes, Max B. Major, Joel S. Poorte, and Ray Kuykendall. Honorary pallbearers were Alden Thornley , Louis A. Khoury , J. Alma Bugger, C. Burke Bugger, Allan D. Robins and Arthur Thomassen. |
