Show Famous Utah Parks Attracting Visitors With ideal touring conditions prevailing, pre-vailing, the national parks in Southern Utah have received unprecedented visitation in October and early No- vember. The record of 2,968 visitors to Zion National park during the month of October made it the largest October in the travel history of the . park and is an increase of 113 per cent over records for October, 1932. Travel in early November has increas- j ed in the same ratio. All sections ofi the United States and six foreign ! countries were represented by October visitors. I The public works programs author-ized author-ized for Zion and Bryce Canyon Na-: tional parks are progressing at a ra-1 pid rate and are furnishing employ-1 ment to many Utah citizens. Since! the beginning of the work on Septem- j ber 8 and to the close of October, the i park payrolls, bearing 419 names, have totaled $17,642.30. October pay-' rolls alone aggregated $13,089.18. Including In-cluding the men employed by the roadi contractors in the parks and the en- j rolled men in Zion's C. C. C. camp, these parks are now giving employ- ment to more than 500 men. There is a possibility that 100 to- 200 more men may be added within the next month under President Roosevelt's recent re-cent program for accelerating employment. |
