Show Southern Parks Council to Hold Fall Camporees The districts throughout the Utah National Parks council will conduct fall camporees for the first time according to announcements made by H. R. Merrill, chairman of civic service of the council, who Is In charge of the council-wide program. pro-gram. Thirty-two districts in the extensive ex-tensive southern Utah council have scheduled camporees for the month of September. These overnight camping activities will be conducted conduct-ed similarly to the spring camporees, campor-ees, which are culminated by the state-wide camporal. There is, however, how-ever, no state comporal slated for this fall. According to the present plans,: scouts from every troop will set up camps at a central location In each district. Activities will commence in the afternoon and end the following fol-lowing morning. Professor Merrill has written to all school superintendents superin-tendents asking their cooperation In I dismissing from school all registered scouts for this occasion. Council representatives will be present at each district affair. The following program has been recommended: ppenlng mobilization mobiliza-tion ceremony, colors, saparovan events, supper, campfire program, watermelon bust .sleep, morning .mystery hunt, breakfast and closing clos-ing flag demonstrations. Camporees will be held at the 32 districts according to the following schedule: September 14, North Sevier Se-vier and Millard districts; September Septem-ber 15, Sevier and Beaver; September Septem-ber 16, South Sevier and Cedar Breaks; September 17, Garfield and Zion Park; September 18, Panguitch and St. George; September 19, Ka-nab Ka-nab and Deseret; September 21, Wasatch, Duchesne, Roosevelt and Vernal; September 22, Tintlc, Provo and Sharon; September 23, Carbon, Emery, Lehi, Alpine, Timpanogos; September 25, Moroni, North Sanpete, San-pete, South Sanpete, Gunnison ond Juab. Professor Merrill said, "We believe be-lieve that these fall camporees will help launch the fall and winter activity ac-tivity program. This added emphasis em-phasis on camping will also stimulate stimu-late the making of camp equipment and encourage winter camping." -o |
