Crockett, who Just returned from being in attendance at Cedar City. In the past all our conferences, political conventions, and other State gatherings havo usually been held la somo Northern pity of tho State, go tho Southern part of tho State woro delighted to havo tho City officials of tho State see. their Country and get an Idea of some of the natural resources and possibilities and nlso see their natural na-tural beauties. The journey south was made by auto, each party joining the Cara-ivan Cara-ivan as their particular city was leached, so that when Cedar City 'ws reached tho majority ot tho Cities Cit-ies wcro represented by ono or more officials. Many people have the Idea that ' tho State Municipal League Is u recent re-cent organization, but on February IS, 1907 a meeting was held 11 Salt Lako City which was termed "The Mayor's Convention" out of which grew the organization known as the '"State Municipal Loague ot Utah." It has never lent It's Influence to any legislation or movement that Ud not havo for their purposo tho Improving of conditions; It has never nev-er followed fads; It has represented the Intelligent cmln of each coin-miinlu,' coin-miinlu,' has been represented by men who havo loarncd from the experience exper-ience that comes from handling things themselves. At tho close of tho convention about thirty or tho party visited k Bryco Cnnyon, Cedar Brakes. Zion National Park, and The Grand Canyon. Can-yon. Tho beauty and grandeur of theso places Is beyond expression. It Is only recently that the proper advertising ad-vertising is being given to these .nntur.il wonders. The peoplo of tho South aro only awakening to tho possibilities of making them world-famed. world-famed. Tho futuro will seo faster progress for tho South, duo to tho great tourist travel which wilt bring . the people to their section of the countit--. which has excellent possl-1 bllltles for the development of Iron,'1 coal, s live n potash, sulphur, man- , ganese. etc. t |
